Accordion Favourites - Jimmy Shand

Advantages: Lots of good songs
Disadvantages: One or two weak songs

.... Their next album was called 'Clarity', was soon followed by 'Singles' and then the latest and probably best in my opinion, 'Bleed American' and 'Futures'. Back to the album… There are a few fast paced songs on here with good rhythms, but there are also a couple of slow and boring songs on. Obviously I prefer the faster ones. So to the tracks: 1) Salt Sweat Sugar: This song gets into the fast pace really quickly, and starts off with a good rhythm straight away. This was one of the first Jimmy Eat World songs I heard, and I was impressed, and probably why I am so into them at the moment. It is quite short unfortunately and could do with being a bit longer. 2) A Praise Chorus: This is one of my favourite Jimmy Eat World songs. Advantages: Big hit singles
Disadvantages: A few average tracks

...long between singles and then grab a huge hit yet again. The song is so different from his other material. It's pure pop. The backing singer makes this track though I have to say. She really does. The song sounds more like something Michael Jackson would sing and it's brilliant. The chorus is almost like an American army chant. The third track is "Crocodile Shoes" which was a hit in 1995. It had a funny video to go with it, complete with pantomime horse. It's a great country track which came from the BBC programme of the same name. The next track is "Cowboy Dreams" which came from the second and final series of "Crococile Shoes". "Love's a silver bullet than can blow your world apart". It certainly is. "Big River" is a particular favourite of mine as Jimmy's nostalgia for the local rivers and industries of years gone... Read review

Advantages: Massively melodic and hugely energetic and entertaining music.
Disadvantages: I fail to think of any.

...as much when it turned out to be the least successful of the three. Of the chosen single tracks, 'Pain' is without doubt the one I appreciate the most and is in fact a brilliant song. It is extremely powerful and the chorus will get deep inside of you, pushing deeper and deeper with every driving guitar riff and impressing hugely with its epic nature. It is amongst my favourite of the tracks that Jimmy Eat World have recorded and is one that I would definitely recommend all listen to. 'Nothing Wrong' is another track that I would advise all to listen to. It has a great bite about it, a booming drum beat, a guitar riff that could destroy the world, and the vocals come firing through fully loaded with plenty of passion and a venomous sting.
