Advantages: Making corpses burst apart in Zero-Gee! Disadvantages: Horror and enemies get rather repetitive.
DeadSpace!!!
Remember when you were young? I know it's difficult, but try and cast your mind back to when you could only reach the top shelf in the kitchen with the aid of a chair and the thing foremost in your mind was whether your parents would let you keep the dog you found with no teeth. There were a lot of things back then which I felt were unfair, but the biggest were the chores. 'Wash the dishes!' 'Mow the lawn!' 'Clean the toilet!' ...
The rather long-winded point I'm making is that DeadSpace manages to take me back to those years.
The story:
You are an engineer by the name of Isaac Clarke who is sent to investigate what has happened to a mining ship called the Ishimura. When your ship touches down you find yourself split up from the others and sent off to fix the monorail system on the Ishimura which has become broken ...
Advantages: * Deeply engrossing story * Breathtaking visuals and nerve-wracking audio Disadvantages: * Repetitive mission objectives * Close-quarters combat is troublesome.
deal with undead space mutants, others still have heavily armored but vulnerable from behind, where as scorpion like tails that will leap at you.
One of the first things to notice in DeadSpace is that it features a complete lack of a traditional heads up display, instead information is integrated into Isaac's rig uniform, to see his current health you may only glance at his meter to the rigs spine, and to see how much ammo's left in you weapon, simply check the display read out visible when every you raise it to a engage position. Menu's are holographic projected in front of you real time, producing a sense of urgency as you remain venerable to attack. This simple yet injeanious systems insure that u only remain in the realm of the game world at all times preserving to horror experience.
As you explore the many decks of the Ishimura ...
Advantages: Easy and fun to play Disadvantages: Too addictive
Pinball SpaceCadet can only be found either on the Net somewhere, or in the more recent versions of Windows (2000 etc). It represents a bit of a leap in the nature of the Windows games in that it has a bit of go to it! Actually created by Maxis (I presume the same company of Sim-fame), it's quite a simple one-table affair, but the game has quite enough depth to keep you entertained for quite some time to come.
- I need control mwuhahahaha
Well, control of this game is simplicity itself – there's a left and right flipper button, and a plunger button. You can also use keys to nudge the table from side to side, but I've never used this with any useful result. Other than this, the only other keys you'll need are F1 for the help file, F2 to start the game, F3 to pause/unpause the game, and F4 to full screen the game from it's default ...
