Incredible
Review of Mahler: Symphony No. 5 by tbreeze

Advantages: Excellent piece - real emotion
Disadvantages: none

...It is hard to believe that Gustav Mahler was so unappreciated and often viewed as a conductor who occasionally wrote "overlong" symphonies. This work is certainly one of the greatest ever written and would certainly not look out-of-place along side works by masters like Beethoven and Mozart. People often do not like this symphony and others by Mahler, simply because they do not understand it. The entire work is a collection of emotions, as they were experienced by the composer. Therefore, to see the music properly, the listener must feel those emotions too. It is therefore impossible to approach the work from a critical and analytical point of view. The emotion that exists in the score alone is incredible. The adagietto, though often considered to be a calm and relaxing piece, is one of the most painful pieces to listen... Read review

From Vienna to Venice
Review of Mahler: Symphony No 5 by mirrors

Advantages: Great music is always an advantage...
Disadvantages: Great music don't have it

...devotion to the debatable one "cultural politics" of the then U.R.S.S., it is Shostakovic which, for his same admission, owes a lot to Mahler. The Fourth Symphony of the Russian would not be thinkable before without the Fourth or the Bohemian's Fifth, with that sense "panic" and at the same time "magic" of the nature that permeates and it unites so the three Symphonies. In the title I told from Vienna to Venice (implicitly remembering "You death in Venice " in the cinema version, in which the Adagietto of the Fifth Symphony of Mahler is used), but I could also have been telling for the century of the romanticism that of the more disenchanted and, together, deperate vision of the life that has been the whole century that we have been having for little time greeted . But enough, to the others the space otherwise I end up writing of everybody... Read review

Music for all
Review of Favourite Movie Classics by robin_best

Advantages: Some Excellent powerful songs
Disadvantages: Some songs that I don't understand

...then it gets very powerful like he has been spotted and is being chased. Track 9: O Mio Babbino Caro from Gianni Schicchi – Puccini From A room With A View This is another opera, I cant actually place this song or what it is trying to get across. What ever it is trying to show it is a strong one. Track 10: Adagietto from Symphony NO.5 – Mahler From Death in Venice This is yet another sad song that at the start is extremely quiet and it only gets a bit louder during the end, but it never changes the sombre feeling it gives. Track: 11 Minuet – Boccherini From The Lady Killers This song you could easily sit down to dinner and listen to this as it is a very easy song to listen to that is not giving off to much power so it can be enjoyed by anyone, it has a slight uplifted tone to it. Track 12: Warsaw Concerto – Addinsell From Dangerous Moonlight... Read review
