Disadvantages: ripps off Nirvana a little in one of the Verse's

This is one of the more unique Blink 182 songs. The reasoning behind this is that the lyrics are actually quite good. Then the some of the guitar riffs are actually quite complexed. Then Travis Barker (drummer) comes in with drum beat and a small guitar solo provided by Tom Delonge (guitarist/vocalist) and then Mark Hoppus(Bassist/Vocalist) starts singing. This song has a veryu simple concept and they perform it very well, not live though!! that is their downfall as the people who bought "The Mark, Tom, & Travis show" will know. Adams song came from the highly criticised Enema Of The State, but one thing that was always said - Adams Song was a standout track with superior quality. Where Blink182 has always been assosiated with fast tracks about girls and jokes, Adams Song showed a completely different side to their music. The track is about how a boy is feeling low and in a state of teenage depression. the song tells of a contemplation of suicide with lyrics such as " ...
...when i'm gone" and with a reference to a suicide attempt " i traced the cord back to the wall, no wonder it was never plugged in at all". As the track nears the end we are shown how the boy overcomes his problems to have a different out look. This is shown with lyrics like "Tomorrow holds such better days". ...Adam (naturally) who's teenage life is going wrong and everything is just a mess after he's split up with his girlfriend and he's contemplating suicide. The video for this song is pretty cool as it shows Blink 182 performing infront of a board full of pictures of happy memories with the camera zooming in on them and playing the memories in picture frame style. Blink 182 really exerted themselves in this one, they really did well. Unlike usuall, the lyrics have been well thought out and is also great to listen to. They start with a simple piano rythme which gets them going into a drum beat and a small guitar solo before the lyrics come in. It's a simple song and concept and they perform it very well. ...is. But back to the song. They keep it slow and simple, but also add parts which are faster and make people dance and jump around a bit more. It seems they have added 2 different "moods" of a song into one and made it so the listener has to know when to stop jumping. The song builds up to a good finish. In comparison to the rest of the songs on their albumn Enema of the State, Blink 182 succeed in writing a song that can be taken seriously. Because they use simple feelings and lyrics to get their point across, makes it original, thought provoking without you having to get the dictionary out. Its easy listening thats enjoyable too.
