Adaptation And Survival - Tribes Of Neurot

...I've been a fan for a while of the kind of East-coast, "chilled" sort of hip-hop (ie no guns or 'hos' a la Puff Daddy and his mates) by the likes of De La Soul, Jurassic 5 and of course A Tribe Called Quest. This album by former Tribe frontman Q-Tip does not disappoint. Its mellow, cool, the old-school melodies are infectious and the rapping intelligent. It sits alongside earlier Tribe albums in many of these respects but somehow seems a little more up-to-date. There are a couple of cool guests on the album (Busta Rhymes, Korn - what an odd collaboration, but it works!) All in all a brilliant, sexy album - I taped it for my car and I haven't stopped playing it for weeks.... Read review

Advantages: Funky, lyrical Hip Hop

...This album represents the highpoint of a band frequently obscured by their more successful Native Tongues associates (Tribe, De La, Jungle Brothers) and will certainly appeal to fans of those groups alongside all lovers of jazzy, conscious Hip Hop. This album didn't do so good on its initial release, probably because it lacked the band's greatest hit - a remix of the album's main track. Thankfully, the killer 'Choice is yours (remix)' is included on this cd version. This album should be the next purchase for anybody in proud posession of the entire Tribe back catalogue, alongside De La Soul and the rest of the Native Tongues family. 'A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing' represents another classic album from the early nineties Hip Hop renaissance.... Read review
