Advantages: Exciting, unusual, family show Disadvantages: None
...Varekai is another superb Cirque Du Soleil masterpiece. I took my family to this show in the Royal Albert Hall (Grandparents, Parents and kids aged 12 and 8) and they all thoroughly enjoyed the show. The show runs in London until 10th February so book now if you want to see something quite different but spectacular.
For people who have never been to one of Cirque's performances it is difficult to describe so here goes! Varekai is a beautiful combination of music, dance, comedy, trapeze acts and unusual "flying" men! Think of it as a very modern day circus style show with amazingly talented performers in breathtaking costumes with a specific theme throughout.
The set design is fantastic and based on the inside of a forest. The forest is made up of vertical bamboo sticks which soar into the Royal Albert's dome. The stage comes...

Advantages: There is strong respect to tradition, yet it’s different from what many of us might be used to. Disadvantages: songs are subdued, almost cold. There isn’t enough emotion.
...In a world of formulaic music it is refreshing to hear a group that takes a beat, puts a little axle grease on it to keep it running smooth, and just goes with the flow. There are no rules being followed on The Calling, and the music is allowed to run its own course, stopping occasionally to take on board a few politically minded messages. Advantages: Crazy, humourous, artistic Disadvantages: The artwork has been printed poorly.
...Don't Make it is a musical and lyrical masterpiece, detailing Old City hall Fred and his fondness for bedding a 13 year old girl who:
And he loves it, he loves it
It curls up his toes
She wipes his fat neck
And it lights up his nose
But he cannot be fooled
Old City Hall Fred
She's nasty, she's nasty
She digs it in bed
That's right
It may well be Old City Hall Fred's daughter as he says he would:
Smother my daughter in chocolate syrup
And strap her on again, oh baby
and also "make her do a nasty on the White House lawn"
This is then topped off with the final track "American Drinks and Goes Home" including bar noise and patter.
This album has an incredible range of music on and is most definitely worth a listen. You might not get it but you won't regret it....
