Deftones popularity in the music business has skyrocketed. They deserve every bit of their success. And they are all for their fans, while creating tight lyrics and sweet beats. Once you listen to this Deftones record, adrenaline will be rushing through ... ...The title of it was Adrenaline and after I listened to the first track I knew this band was something more. They are unlike any other band out there. Deftones’ lyrics are nothing but normal. And the lead singer Chino can sure let his voice synthesize and flow intricately with the beats of their music. Nothing ever experienced before. When you think of the Deftones you think of a band so unique it cannot be expressed in words how they relate ...

Advantages: Great debut album, still fantastic today Disadvantages: Not as good as the following albums
...reacent songs are, everything on Adrenaline is very heavy, dark and most definately moody. It is in creating an atmosphere that the Deftones not only excell everyone else, but they surpass themselves.
From the opening to Bored, the first song on the album and the breakthrough single for the band, you will be in the knowledge that this is certainly something special, and that this band are trying to do something different at least. The monumental ... ...together and create somethign althogether dark and disturbing. The very same applies to all the other songs on this album, and indeed, all of the Deftones' songs in general. One thing I absolutely love about this track is the way that the first 3 or so minutes are fairly monotomous, with each chorus and verse gradually builing up, then seeing an explosion in sound, leading to a fantastic finale which is backed up by Chino's trademark screaming.

A Rush of Blood!! Review ofAdrenaline - Deftonesby
penguinchickalata
Advantages: the most amazing album Disadvantages: none- what a stupid thing to ask
...band are from America!!
Adrenaline was the first album and it was released in 1995, after which 2 years of touring followed- and it was during this time that I fell in love with the Deftones. Adrenaline is an incredible first album. It is hard-hitting and truly heavy without ever being hard on the ears. Each song is different and of amazing quality. Rather than tell you about each track individually I’ll just let you know about my favourites and ... ...has the words Deftones and Adrenaline on it- d’uh!! (Another wee note on the goodness of this album is that it has the words inside- yay)
Thanks for reading. Sorry this hasn’t been my greatest review ever I get distracted when I am in the presence of such greatness- if there is anything you feel I really need to add let me know and I will be happy to do my best and edit this… but in the meantime…
What are you waiting for- go listen now!!!!

Advantages: Great atmosphere, is both melodic and heavy, is a great start to end experience Disadvantages: Debatable guitar sound, not every track is outstanding alone.
Back in the days, when "nu-metal" was still fairly "new", a promising young band from sacramento called "deftones" released "adrenaline"
I'm not gonna pretend i'm a veteran and was around in the dark beginnings of the 1990s, but this must have been one of the more groundbreaking albums of the early 90s.
Although this album came a year after korn's debut, deftones are no copycats, they play their own unique brand of "nu" metal, without taking anything ... ...of deftones is much smoother, more hauntingly melodic, and they have always produced original work. Over the course of the three albums, they have progressed, the budget has gone up, the sentiments of the band changed, but this album is clearly still very "deftones"
However, if you've bought "white pony" and want to hear more by these guys, prepared to be surprised. This is very different from their latest album, mainly due to being heavier and ...

Advantages: debut album, beautiful vocals Disadvantages:
This album starts with a heavy guitar riff, going by the name of "Bored" nothing notably special, talent-wise, but it gives you the impression that this is going to be a typically heavy, boring metal band. Then Chino's vocals kick in, and your first impression is blown away in a melodic, hypnotic first line.
The album then goes on to show you some of the bands best works (in my opinion) in the shape of "Root" "7 Words" and "Engine No. 9"
"Root" ... ...chord riff repeated a couple of times then an explosive "cha-chunk cha-chunk" is the only way to describe it, then the song gets launched into full-flight.
Impressive stuff for a debut album
The vocals sound great, although the lyrics are pretty indecipherable at times, and when they aren't, they don't seem to make a lot of sense, or maybe theres references that are just really obscure.. I dont know.
Overall, the album is pretty inovative, as ...

Advantages: Contains many classics, all the songs are good Disadvantages: Less accessible than "white pony"
.... This perhaps is as good an expression of the contrasting nature of deftones' melodic/heavy sound, which is integrated seamlessly in this album.
This really is a great album, and makes a perfect companion to "adrenaline" and "white pony". I feel with every item of deftones' discography that you acquire, it somehow lets you appreciate the other more.
Whether this is in fact superior to the first album, i do not know, i prefer to see these two albums as one item, as i feel they nicely compliment and contrast each other.
While neither is a timeless classic, they are both great albums, especially together, and very worthy of a good listen and purchase.
I'm therefore not giving around the fur 5 out of 5, rather 4, but bear in mind that this is a high four, and it really is a classic album....

Advantages: Beauitful masterpiece of lovely curved songs drifting into each other brilliantly. Disadvantages: A bit of a "sick" feeling, and lyrics people will struggle to understand.
...This is a great CD by the mighty Deftones. If your a hard-rock/nu-metal fan this cd will blow you off your feet, although at first it doesn't seem to great, after intense listening you will realise what a great cd it actually is. Right from the start with the song featured on "The Matrix" is "My Own Summer (shove it)" which is a great song, but not at all the best on the album. The downside is it might make you feel a bit "sickly" if your not used to the deftones, but in the end it will be high in your rock collection. Hard-rock? Nu-metal? This is Deftones. Forget "Adrenaline", get "Around The Fur"....

Advantages: Deftones' most musically mature album yet, lots of variation Disadvantages: The most difficult Deftones album to 'enjoy' on first listen
...Deftones have returned with their 4th album, and it's definitely their best so far. With each new release, the Deftones seem to make a more mature album than the one before - with wide ranges of influences from hardcore rock with screaming vocals, to more laid back piano-based tracks with drum loops and calm vocals.
If you have never heard a Deftones album, I strongly recommend that 'Deftones' is not the first album you listen to. 'Adrenaline' or 'Around the Fur' are their most accessible. If you are a fan, then I'm sure that you will enjoy 'Deftones' the most. It's not an easy listen - the first time may leave you slightly dissappointed - but keep listening and the music really grows on you and you will discover hidden bits of beauty interlaced in the songs. Even now, after many listens, the album is still growing on me!...

Album Notes: Deftones: Chino Moreno (vocals); Stephen Carpenter (guitar); Chi Cheng (vocals, bass); Abe Cunningham (drums).
Album Reviews: CMJ (2/21/00, p.24) - "...both beautiful and angry, rocking like a sailboat on stormy waters....also showing off the band's tender side, which stemmed from the creamy-soft, yearning vocals of Chico Moreno....the album has a gorgeous sound that has nothing in common with rapcore."
