Advantages: Album art and creativity of the album in a whole Disadvantages: too much experimental material and not enough of thee greatests.
...When I heard about this album I was counting down the days to purchase, and when that day finally come I was slightly dissapointed. I found myself skipping tracks to get to those that i thought were good.. after weeks passed more songs were growing on me.. even those slow experemental stuff they often do grew on me. but still i wasn't saticfied in the purchase.
when i first listened to it only 4 songs stood out on the album, these being The Pot, Vicarious, Jambi and RosettaStoned, but after much more listening Wings Of Marie and the title track 10,000 Days starting taking there shine. I think with enought listening any Tool song can grow on anyone.. but for those that chase there great hits like Prison Sex, Sober and Schism, I would not reccomend this album, for those typical Tool fans, I defently would reccomend it.

...of the song transgresses through lots of proggy sections, building to an amazing outro section.
The next track Wings for Marie is the first part of the prog epic 10,000 Days. These two songs combined make up one of the highlights of the album, it is quite fantastic. The whole thing builds and builds and builds, and then launches into one of the most memorable Tool sections ever.
The Pot sounds like it could be another possible candidate for being a single. However dont let that deter you it is still a masterpiece in its own right. It has an unbelievably catchy chorus and and a brilliant bass line.
The next main song Rosettastoned is another progressive masterpiece, worthy of recognition. It contains one of my favourite Tool moments.
The whole album doesn't let up. It is awe inspiring, this album will take weeks, maybe months even years...

Advantages: Flows beautifully Disadvantages: Doesn't live up to the last album
....

This is followed 'Lipan Conjuring', a short eerie track which reminds me of voodoo magic as it consists of an African feel chant.
Next comes 'Lost Keys (blame Hofmann)' an eerie and slow track which is more of a story than a song. This kicks into 'RosettaStoned' which continues the story started in the previous song. 'RosettaStoned' is typical of early Tool, combining simple yet effective rifts to begin with which thrust into more complicated rifts and intricate drums.
'Intension' follows this, a song which although...
