What an excellent album by Def Leppard. This album features the song "Lets get rocked" which I think everyone knows of, its an amazing song, very rocky, quite fast and a great one to sing to! Also on this album there are some nice ballads, one being "have you ever needed someone so bad", what a great song that is! You also have faster tracks such as make love like a man, I wanna touch you, tear it down, stand up, white lightening, heaven is, personal property!! The album is produced by Mike Shipley, 1992, its one of those classic albums for your rock collection, get it now, u will love it!!
Advantages: Easy to listen to Disadvantages: Very few decent tracks
...and the multi-million selling Hysteria, Adrenalize was eagerly awaited and then just as eagerly forgotten.
It is probably the last 'typical' Def Leppard album but there seemed to be a large chunk of creativity missing. How much of this came from guitarist and primary song writer, Steve Clark's, untimely death I don't know but it delayed the album and it looks as though it was finally rushed out the door ... after all, it had been four years since ... ...from someone who enjoyed Hysteria so much (the album changed my taste in music) that he listened to at least one song from it every day for five years!
It has numerous weak tracks. One of the weakest is without a doubt "Make love like a man." The entire song is virtually played out using just three power chords.
One song that is fun and true Def Leppard along the lines of the infamous "Pour Some Sugar on Me", is the opening song ... "Let's Get ...

Advantages: Truely awesome lyrics and music Disadvantages: Couldn't name one.
This is possibly my favourite Def Leppard album of all time. It is definately one of the most forgotten albums, only remembered for 'Let's Get Rocked' but it really contains more than that. This was the album compiled just after Steve Clarks death and really had sentimental vaulue to the band. Steve was one of the main contributors to the songs on the album and the album was put out in memory of his creative genius. The inlay of the album has a few ... ...most vulnerable time, looking back on all the times when they should have seen the destruction going on behind the mans eyes. But it was definately never easy. My heart goes out to the band, for coping so well with such a terrible happening. Def Leppard have really had the worst things thrown at them, but always turned them into a life experience, and helped it make them stronger.
Anyway, back to the songs!
Obviously, the album would start with ...

Advantages: A laid-back but powerful rock album Disadvantages: Make Love Like A Man? ew...
Well, it was nine years ago and I was only twelve but I still remember hearing 'Let's Get Rocked' (or what my little brother called 'Lesginrog') on the radio for the first time. I only bought the single - I wasn't really into albums at the time - but a couple of years on I discovered their value and this was one of those I first splashed out on. Sure, it's dated, and two of the big three singles are very mediocre (Heaven Is, Make Love Like A Man) ...

Advantages: A great follow-up to Hysteria Disadvantages: Highly Underrated
This is probally one of the most underrated Def Leppard albums in my opinion. This is due to the fact that the release prior to this was the smash hit Hysteria. This album doesn't have the wow factor of Hysteria simply because there are a few weak tracks on the album. However the album includes many classic tracks such as 'Let's Get Rocked', 'Make Love Like A Man', 'Tonight', 'Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion)', 'Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad' ...

Advantages: Not many Disadvantages: Weak writing and poor production
...After the triumphs that were Pyromania, Hysteria and Adrenalize, what has gone wrong with DefLeppard? Slang is a weak album, which without their previous performances, wouldn't have even got a look at the charts. When a sample filled title track is the best cut from a guitar based rock band, then really it is a disappointment. Although many people said that The Lep's had become formulaic in their writing, at least it rocked, which unfortunately this album does not.
If you were thinking of getting this to add to your DL collection, listen to Hysteria and imagine all that it isn't. Then save your money....

Advantages: It's distinctively Def Leppard Disadvantages: They're trying to recapture former glories
....
Phil Collen has recently said that "looking back, 'X' is the album that should have followed 'Hysteria'." He could well be right. It's not as good as "Hysteria" by any means, but would bridge the gap between that and 1995's "Slang" better than 1992's "Adrenalize" did. The problem with that statement is that this is an album that would have been perfect 10 years ago. Now, it sounds like something that's been done before, and by the same band.
This is by no means a bad album, and there is no way you'll mistake it for anything other than a DefLeppard album. But it's not their best, and the band seem to be looking back enviously at the 10 million plus sales of "Hysteria", or having seen "Vault" in the US Top 200 for nearly every week since it was released in 1995, rather than concentrating on where they want to go. It's not a step backwards...
