...Pioneers of new rave. The best £9 I've ever spent.
The klaxons, and indie-pop, new rave group from London burst onto the scene in 2007 with their debut album 'Myths of the Near Future', the album won the 2007 Nationwide Mercury Prize.
Every song on this album reeks of originality, with no song sounding too similar. No, the lyrics aren't as deep and meaningful as they could have been but that takes nothing away from the music.
The fast paced singles Gravity's Rainbow', 'Atlantis to Interzone', 'Golden Skans' and 'Magick' are all equally brilliant with the crashing drums, brilliant keyboard and booming bass line make you have to get on your feet and start dancing around. The best track on the album (although it was hard to choose) was the slower paced 'It's not over yet' which with 'Isle of Her', 'Forgotten Works' and 'Two Receivers...

Advantages: Heavy as you like it, pounding drum beats, amazing riffs Disadvantages: None unless you're a pop fan
...This is the second album from Zyklon. Tracks:
1. Psyklon Aeon
2. Core Solution
3. Subtle Manipulation
4. Two Thousand Years
5. No Names Above The Names
6. Prophetic Method, The
7. Specimen Eruption
8. Electric Current
9. Eclectic Manner
The first track has become an anthem for fans of the Norwegian metallers. The apocalyptic lyrics and blast beats, as well as Destructhors impressively lightning-fast yet precise guitar work all compete for your attention, making each track interesting. Trym as a drummer, it could be argued, is the fastest and most innovative. Whilst songs such as "Core Solution" and "Subtle Manipulation" primarily roar death metal at you...

Pure Magic Review ofBlood Sugar Sex Magik - Red Hot Chili Peppersby

Advantages: A Band at the top of their game Disadvantages: only 237 f words..lol
...I always liked RHCP and really liked 'Mother's Milk' - the album before Blood Sugar Sex Magick. It had some good songs and also featured some of the plain stoopidity that made the RHCP the fun band they were.
What it lacked was real cohesian and good production. Blood Sugar... makes up for all that. Enter Rick Rubin. He gave the band the balls in the studio they always had live. There is just a vibe off this album that all the classic albums have. Some will say that their last 2 albums (Californication and By the Way) are better. Well perhaps commercially they are more polished etc, but Blood Sugar Sex Magick is where it is at for me. It is a band's coming of age.
The sound is huge and thick and heavy without being metal - which set them apart from the likes of Faith No More at the time. Kicking off with the 'Power of Equality...
