Ah, get the hankies at the ready for another good old fashioned weepy. I love these kinds of films, which I suppose is regarded as unusual by some given my gender. Perhaps I should be reviewing Die Hard or some other stereotypical masculine movie, and perhaps I will, but for now, I'll settle for the good ol' romance.
Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr star as the love struck pair aboard a ocean cruiser heading back to USA to meet their respective fiancés. Kerr is initially resistant to Crants charms. He is a renowned playboy and she is wary of his approaches but cannot resist his charms despite the fact that she herself is engaged to be married. They decide that they will leave their respective partners and meet in 6 months at the top of the Empire State Building if their love is still in tact. Do they meet? Does everything go to plan? This film is one of the best i have ever seen when i first seen this me and my brother watched it on sky movies. I remember being so bored and for some reason assuming this film wouldn't be that great. I can honestly say i have never been more wrong, i have seen this film many times since and it still moves me to tears every time. I am not a weepy person, i don't cry easily at films but i think even if you are the toughest person who never cry's at films, you will be emotional once you have have seen this. Its a extremely moving film and very thought provoking too it really does get you thinking about life and sends a overwhelming message in my opinion it says there is no guarantees.
If you watch this and have been having one of those days, you know when you think everything's going wrong and life's terrible. This is a knock back to ...

I saw an advert in our local free paper for a trip on the Carlisle to Settle Railway and it was something that we had both always wanted to do, so I sent off for the information.
The trip was to be on a train pulled by the steam locomotive, the Blue Peter. Incidentally I remember seeing the footage of this locomotive being named on the Blue Peter TV programme when I was a little girl.
