This is the latest offering from the sexy, talented and all round nice garl Brandy. Aphrodisiac, is her 4th album, and defiantly her most grown up, and accomplished one at that. I am very impressed with the quality of this album, and it even tops off Full Moon working on all the faults of that one.
1. An enjoyable opening to a great album. It’s fairly middle of the range, it’s defiantly R and B, but not as experimental as it could have been. Cool, sassy but just not up there with the best of Brandy
2. Aphrodisiac: Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, This is a smooth, upbeat tune with catchy lyrics and a sexy backing tune. Brandy’s husky voice works beautifully with everything about this song. It all blends in together. Everything just fits, this is the only song ever I can’t stop singing. Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha to. This is her new single. Out in the shops now! Track Time
3. Who Is She to You: This is collaboration with Usher, the huge multi million albums selling R and B star. I think his music is great, but she wipes the floor with him in this. The song is excellent. You just can’t help grooving to it. The backing is basic, but the two leads voices blend well together. The lyrics are about a cheating spouse, and the pain you go through trying to find out why they did what they did what they did. This
is a great song. Really catchy and sexy! Who is she to you, who is she to me! Track time: 3:42
4. Talk about Our Love: This is the first of Brandy we have heard for a while. But she came back with a bang. This is the coolest, up beat tune in ages. The backing beat is relaxed, her voice is sexy and the lyrics are meaningful. A great summer tune, to lie down on the beach and listen to. This is collaboration. This time it’s with Kanye West, who is a master of R and B himself. The more they talk about our love! Track Time 3:39
5. I Tried: The opening of this tune is very cool and futuristic. Then the beat becomes more relaxed, then Brandy’s beautiful voice joins in and it’s just perfect. This is a catchy song; Brandy’s voice is slightly drowned out by the robotic backing. But that’s my only for the first half. Then Brandy’s voice becomes much more powerful and she takes centre stage. Excellently cool Track Time: 4:19
6. Where You Want to Be: Is a ballad from the outset, it’s smooth, with a soft cool backing, and Brandy’s slightly husky but beautiful vocals. Not my favourite on the album, as it’s slow, and I’m more a fan of the danceable R and B. Good but not great. Track Time 3:45
7. Focus: This is cool, danceable and has a banging backing an up tempo, sexy one with Brandy chanting, that she doesn’t want to lose her focus. Great lyrics and a good backing.
8. Saddity: From the outset this is the coolest single ever. Me and my friends were in a club and they played the remix and everyone started dancing. The driving force is a drum that sounds like clapping. Her voice is more aggressive this time. Powerful, catchy and extremely danceable. One of Brandy’s best vocal performances ever. An aggressive, hot and seductive chorus defiantly helps this cool experience.
9. Turn It Up: This is a hip danceable one, with aggressive vocals, a catchy chorus and a quick upbeat backing. This one really smacks you in the face with it’s aggressive chourus line, strong vocals and up tempo backing Track time:
10. Necessary: This is another one that shows off Brandy’s fantastic vocal ability. This is another chilled out one as well. It’s cool and easy to relax to. It may have a little to much pop in it, but one song out of 15 can be forgiven can’t it? Track Time: 3:59
11. Say You Will: A cool ballad, with meaningful lyrics, a relaxed and cool backing and brandy’s sensual vocals, and a one that you can relax to! Track Time. 3:49
12. Come As You Are: A more upbeat single, the backing driving force is hip, the backing singers are talented and Brandy’s vocals are as always hip and soulful. This one stands out as it is more upbeat that a few of the others. Track Time: 3:46
13. Finally: Is one of those songs that always appear on Brandy’s album, on Full Moon it was WOW on this one it’s finally. It’s an up lifting one, which you don’t want to like but you have to. It’s not big, it’s not clever. But it’s just so great the backing is cool. The vocals are perfect. Stop look around, this is were you belong, are you weak or are you strong? So catchy, even if a little unoriginal. Quite experimental though. Track Time: 3:51
14. How I Feel: A soulful, slow smooth, sensuous song sounds maybe a little too much like Brandy’s earlier stuff, but it’s still relaxing and hip! Track Time: 3:52
Overall, Musically I think this album, is Brandy’s most grown up, she always had her own style, but she has really come into her own on Aphrodisiac. Each song has more of a purpose than Full Moon or her other 3 albums. It’s also good to see that artists are collaborating with her. Even the hugely successful Usher comes along for the ride (brandy and ushers collaborations, is the best song on the album) the lyrics are interesting. Brandy’s voice has evolved and become much, much more grown up. The backing music is all different and intriguing. Excellent.
Overall look Brandy looks super hot, her features are less babyish, and now she’s a full blown sex symbol. Her style glows through her. She has class, even though she is in skimpy clothes and everything, I don’t think she is making a point of it. (Unlike other artists!) Brandy is naturally beautiful and she seems like a genuinely nice person, she has style, class and sex appeal, what more could you asks for?
An excellent album with all of Brandy’s charisma and talent. You can buy it from Woolworth’s, Virgin and HMV for 9.99 but on Amazon.co.uk £8.97
