Gary Moore plays Peter Green
Review of Blues For Greeny - Gary Moore by dvdsprks2

Advantages: Peter Greens skill is rediscovered in the form of Gary Moore
Disadvantages: None

...I saw Peter Green & Fleetwood Mac in the late sixties and Gary Moore is the first guitarist that I have heard play his songs, where you could shut your eyes, and be transported back to that concert. This is my experience of Peter Green and also Gary Moore whom I saw play "I loved another woman" at the MEN Manchester. If you love good music albeit the Blues and want to hear it played by actual musicians then "Blues for Greeny" is for you. To honour one of the guitarists he admires Gary Moore has stepped away from his own high class musicianship and produces an album of Peter Green songs six of which can be found on the albums "Fleetwood Mac" and "Mr Wonderful" (see my reviews on these albums, (Early and More Early English Blues) and also puts in some lesser known songs as well as "I need your love so Bad" which... The blues is back? We'll see.....
Review of After Hours - Gary Moore by Saveman

Advantages: Pure rocking-blues heaven
Disadvantages: Eric Clapton's more famous.

...What do you think of when you hear the name Gary Moore? Rock? Blues? I just think GUITAR! So when perusing my local music shop and coming across "After Hours" I expected to be in for a ear bashing of rock oriented, blues based, guitar driven music extravaganza......I was right. After Hours is an inspired album from an artist at his peak. Pure molten blues with the kind of edge to it that Eric Clapton can only dream of. Gary plays his Les Paul, incidently worth almost £30000, like theres no tomorrow, wrenching every last bit of emotion from every song, whether it was there or not in the first place. From "Cold day in Hell", a slight throw back to "Pretty Woman" from his last album, to "Nothing's the Same" (a classic song in anyones book) the album speeds along breathlessly, twisting and turning with each new mood of the guitar... We Want Moore...
Review of Wild Frontier [Remastered] - Gary Moore by steerpyke

Advantages: imaginative celtic rock.
Disadvantages: dont expect the Gary Moore of the blues days.

...Gary Moore became best known for his blues period in the 1990s but we should remember that he has moved through a wide range of musical styles, all based in the rock format, but all with very distinct flavours. After learning his trade with Skid Row and a brief stint with the young Thin Lizzy, as well as recording as the Gary Moore Band, the guitarist spent a number of years in Jazz rock band Colosseum II. Following that solo albums and another stint with Thin Lizzy resulted in the now famous Black Rose album, and the single Parisiene Walkways. A long on off friendship with Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott comes to an end with Lynotts death in 1986, and this album was released the following year. The songs seem to take Moore back to his roots and is considered by many to be his best non-blues album, a flurry of which were to follow... Read review
