After Hours [Digipak] - Various Artists

...First off, anyone who knows me or those who have seen other music reviews of mine will notice that I tend to prefer easy listening pop stuff, like Phil Collins and Genesis...stuff like that... Well, I popped into HMV some time ago and though "I want to buy a CD"...and in the New Releases rack was "Gatecrasher: Global Sound System" and looking at the track listing, I was instantly keen! So, I whipped out my Barclaycard and bought the CD, headed back to the office, stuck CD 1 into my player and got working...the next thing I knew it was past 5pm and I had worked solidly for 4 hours nonstop listening to the first CD without noticing the time. That says quite a lot there...that I could work for 4 hours without stopping for a cup of tea is quite impressive and it was all because I was sucked into the world of Gatecrasher! I love this CD... Advantages: Excellent tracks - no rubbish
Disadvantages: No good if you don't like dance music

...I love dance music so maybe that makes the review seem little bias but where dance albums nowadays seem like 10 a penny, trying to find the ones that are the cream of the crop are becoming rare. So it made a refreshing change when I bough the latest gatecrasher album last week. The gatecrasher series has been on the go for awhile now with albums named after colours last few years (red, blue etc) these too are excellent mix albums. As is the new one GATECRASHER GLOBAL SOUND SYSTEM. A 2cd 140 mins plus excursion of the best sound released/unreleased around. The tunes never stop coming and is one album you will not get bored of. Featuring tracks/remixes by Oliver Lieb (LSG) Bt, Moby, Paul Van Dyk, tracks from Hooj Choons label and Platipus. 33 tracks.
