Advantages: Unique style of rap Disadvantages: Unique style of rap
...When this album was released, the world seemed to be at Bad Boy records feet after Biggie's death. So Mase's debut album "Harlem World" was released. Some have seen him as an East Coast version of Snoop Doggy Dogg. However, the album is packed with some funky hip-hop/rap. It's Mase's unique voice and style of rap that differs him from Puffy's Family. But it seems that he maybe uncabable of making a song on his own as most of the tunes on the album feature other rappers and half the songs feature Puff Daddy. Lack of talent or too talented to appear on his own album, there are some good tunes on the album such as 'Feel So Good' and '24Hrs. To Live'. I would recommend this album to serious Bad Boy record collectors only. Not for the casual rap listener....

Advantages: Great lyrics, top beats, real real deep Disadvantages: Bit depressing, not very sociable music
...Well I heard about this guy from a friend whos a big hip hop fan, said i'd love it. He couldn't have been more correct. This album is consistant fire! Every bar has had so much thought put into it, every verse is on point.
This guy, Immortal Technique, is from Peru, lived in Harlem all his life and has got a lot of tension bagged up inside, mainly political, but a lot of the lyrics seem to be against the music industry/the people around him. In the next section i'll review each song on its own, it deserves the attention.
1. Revolutionary- just an intro, nothing special
2. Point of Now Return-great start to an album, very heavy song, great beat
3. Peruvian Cocaine-brilliant tune about the cocaine industry and the life of those that harvest the stuff...
4. Harlem Streets-you think the run of two hothothot tunes must end, very deep...

Advantages: Lyrically brilliant with some really good tracks. Disadvantages: A couple of weaker links.
...I've been a fan of Suzanne Vega since I first heard her haunting voice on the radio in the late 1980s. I didn't know who she was and asked around to find out what the song I had heard was called and who the singer was. I discovered the song was called Luka and the artist was Suzanne Vega. A quick trip to Hudsons later and I was the proud owner of a cassette album (remember those?) called Solitude Standing. Time travel forwards from 1987 to 2005 and you see me with several Suzanne Vega albums (now on CD) and I'm still listening to Solitude Standing even now ~ a true test of music standing the test of time!
~~~THE SINGER.
For those who don't know, Suzanne Nadine Vega was born in Santa Monica, California back in July 1959. Her family moved to Spanish Harlem in New York in 1961 (when her mother married Ed Vega). Suzanne grew up here...
