Moderatley-Good CD Review ofBeauty And The Beat [Remastered] - Peggy Lee/George Shearingby
TaraLothian
Advantages: A few really good song; Great singing; Amazing piano solos Disadvantages: Some boring songs; A lot of intrumental songs
...This was the first album I'd bought by Peggy Lee, after hearing a few of her songs from the internet, and I was quite impressed.
It may just be my taste, but in my opinion quite a lot of the songs are dull, and I almost always skip the instrumentals.
Peggy Lee is brilliant, as usual, and George Shearing is enough to make you want to take up Piano.
The album's best songs have to be -
2: I Lost My Sugar In Salt Lake City
7: Blue Prelude
8. You Came A Long Way From St Louis
9: Always True To You In My Fashion
11: Get Out Of Town (has an AMAZING piano solo)
13: Nobody's Heart
Some of the songs take a while to get into, but you probably won't regret buying this album....

Advantages: Amy Lee's very strong vocals. Disadvantages: Some sound similar.
...Basically, wow! This album blew me away.
After watching DareDevil, and hearing Bring Me To Life and My Immortal, I was gobsmacked and had to hear more. I ran out to buy the album as soon as I could.
Amy Lee's amazing voice is complemented by the haunting accompaniment offered by Ben Moody and the rest of the band.
The lyrics seem to have sooo much thought behind them, and all of the tracks seem to be based on very strong, powerful emotions or on personal experiences.
Amy Lee really does have an almighty voice, and her sense of fashion is truly unique. She can switch from the depressing melodies of Hello to the loud, and flamboyant cheers of Going Under.
Since I bought this album, it has been playing non-stop. I would thorougly recommend it to anybody looking, and I am happily awaiting their next album.
Would recommend to all!...
