After Hours - Little River Band (The)

Advantages: A number of brilliant tracks, some of which show great potential.
Disadvantages: Demo recordings so sound quality can be poor.

...Rivers Cuomo is an extremely introverted and at times highly insolent individual. His sanity has been questioned many a time over the years, and his isolation from others is clear for all to see. Despite his questionable state of mind, Weezer as a band have continued for the most part to release excellent albums over the years and now comes this latest release from Rivers Cuomo as a solo artist. 'Alone: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo' is exactly as it says on the tin, it is a collection of demo recordings that he has recorded between the years of 1992 and 2007. Being demo recordings, the quality is often quite bad, but nonetheless some excellent tracks can be made out as Rivers Cuomo progresses his way through this collection. Advantages: some great tracks

...Wet Wet Wet. Yes that band fronted by the permagrinned Marti Pellow who tortured us all in the summer of 1994. Remember Love Is All Around. How could you forget? It was at the top for 16 weeks and drove everyone insane including the band. I am sure that song helped in the downfall of the Wets. I maybe a bit of an indie chick with a penchant for classic singer songwriters now but in the 1990s I used to adore the Wets. I used to be every single record, tape every single program and buy all he magazines and papers they were featured in. Boy I was obsessed. I know they were always totally uncool and uncrediable but there were worse bands to be into. Think of the poor people who cringe at liking Big Fun, Bad Boys Inc or other prancing little bogs. At least the Wets did have talent. They had talent by the bucket load they just did not quite... Read review

Advantages: 8 albums of pure quality.
Disadvantages: Their popularity has decreased in recent years

...the poorly performing singles ‘Closer Than Most' (no. 22) and ‘The River'/'Just Checkin' (at number 59 their worst performing single). Released in 2000. Shortly after it's release Jacqui left the band for ‘Personal reasons' So that concludes my list of their albums. They are all of the highest quality and I hope that there will be many more in the future. I recommend that if you don't already own any of the albums then you should go out and get one, any one right away...............GO.... Read review
