Advantages: imaginative celtic rock. Disadvantages: dont expect the Gary Moore of the blues days.
...GaryMoore became best known for his blues period in the 1990s but we should remember that he has moved through a wide range of musical styles, all based in the rock format, but all with very distinct flavours. After learning his trade with Skid Row and a brief stint with the young Thin Lizzy, as well as recording as the GaryMoore Band, the guitarist spent a number of years in Jazz rock band Colosseum II. Following that solo albums and another stint with Thin Lizzy resulted in the now famous Black Rose album, and the single Parisiene Walkways. A long on off friendship with Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott comes to an end with Lynotts death in 1986, and this album was released the following year. The songs seem to take Moore back to his roots and is considered by many to be his best non-blues album, a flurry of which were to follow...

Advantages: Straightforward rock Disadvantages: Nothing innovative
...After the severe disappointment of "A Different Beat" - Gary's latest album - I treated myself to this cut-price live offering just to restore my faith in the guitarist.
Dating from 1986, although repackaged in 1997, this features 8 tracks recorded live in Japan (but you had already guessed that part right?). With a band line-up of Ian Paice, Neil Murray, John Slowman and Don Airey all playing real instruments, this couldn't fail to excite.

And guess what? No "Parisienne Walkways". On a GaryMoore album? Shockeroonie....

Advantages: Peter Greens skill is rediscovered in the form of Gary Moore Disadvantages: None
...I saw Peter Green & Fleetwood Mac in the late sixties and GaryMoore is the first guitarist that I have heard play his songs, where you could shut your eyes, and be transported back to that concert.
This is my experience of Peter Green and also GaryMoore whom I saw play "I loved another woman" at the MEN Manchester.
If you love good music albeit the Blues and want to hear it played by actual musicians then "Blues for Greeny" is for you.
To honour one of the guitarists he admires GaryMoore has stepped away from his own high class musicianship and produces an album of Peter Green songs six of which can be found on the albums "Fleetwood Mac" and "Mr Wonderful" (see my reviews on these albums, (Early and More Early English Blues) and also puts in some lesser known songs as well as "I need your love so Bad...
