Now! If anyone seen this CD in the shops it would certainly not fill you with desire to purchase it.
The cover is actually a bland brown cover, with a darker brown round circle, with the words " 1970-number 1's" in the centre. The circle in the centre I presume is supposed to be a representation of the old 7inch vinyl records.
It also tells you and the CD cover in nice White letters, that amongst the artist there is, BLONDIE, SUZI QUATRO, WIZARD, T-REX, HOT CHOCOLATE, and MUD!
Not a bad line up eh?
The actual CD is white in colour, and has printed on it, number1's, 1970in a light brown as well.
I expected to see pictures of each artist inside the cover when opening it, but was disappointed to see that it only contained, the track listings.
However you can reverse it and use the other side as poster if you so desire!
WHO RELEASED ...
Advantages: A few scarface film samples Disadvantages: Nearly the whole thing
of drug references and average rhymes
10 Crack Commandments - Notorious BIG. A song taken from BIGs Life After Death, probably the worst song on that and this album. Its just a list relating to drug deals making reference to the line, never get high on your own supply. Poor production that im sure has been used since
Mr Scarface - Scarface. Ok i take it back this is the worst one. Originally released in 91 so its dated beats dont mix well with the up to date rap
Streets Is Watching - Jay Z. Taken from Jay Z's In My Lifetime album. Good intelligent raps, street warfare and feuds discussed here. Not his best track but not bad
Dopeman - NWA.A 1989 release added here and classic beats along with the old rap supergroup. Not really a lot going on but its NWA so you pay attention
Criminology - Ghostface Killah & Raekwon. A Rza produced ...
Advantages: Great selection of songs Disadvantages: Not as many tracks on the discs as the old CDs
With a great range of artists, the team at Now That's What I Call Music have redeemed themselves with this latest offering. There are appearances from the likes of Kanye West, Calvin Harris, Duffy, The Tings Tings, Rihanna The Hoosiers and Timbaland, there is something to suit everyone.
The Series
The "Now" series was a project formed by record label giants EMI and Universal Music. Launched in 1983, the series continues to sell and to date, has obtained appoximately 75 million album sales worldwide.
The first compilation featured thirty UK hit singles from 1983 on a double vinyl LP or cassette. Currently Now albums are released on CD and via digital download.
The rate of release varied greatly when the series began, but more recently a Now cd appears to be released 3 times a year - one at Easter, another during summer ...
