I came across this album through the first song on it, 'The Age Of The Understatement' having seen it on music channels and then went mad trying to find out who it was and then came across this album!
The Last Shadow Puppets are a side-project by Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane (The Rascals) - two very popular indie bands. If you like them, you'll probably like this album.
As popular as indie is at the moment, The Last Shadow Puppets are very unique in their sound. Both Turner and Kane have a love for 60s pop which has influenced their music (and even their early beatles style haircuts!) and this is why they are so different. Also, lead singer Turner is one of very few popular singers from Sheffield, so has a very distinctive voice that sounds good with the harmonies with Kane.
Musicians have to take risks in order to be different from the rest and unique, which is a risk and can go either way. This album is exactly the example of this gone right.
Miles Kane told 'The Sun' in a previous interview that the band will be recording more in 2009, so if you like this album, you won't have to wait too long for the next one! (:
Turner and Kane are both very talented as musicians. They recorded this album in just two weeks, for one! Also, their live and acoustic versions of the album are just as good, in both singing and playing, which is something you don't get as much nowdays - along with bands writing their own music - which The Last Shadow Puppets do too!
They are very addictive to listen to - you can really just sit and listen to the album on repeat quite a few times! (well i can anyway...). Here is a list of all the songs on the album:
1. The Age Of The Understatement 2. Standing Next To Me 3. Calm Like You 4. Separate and Ever Deadly 5. The Chamber 6. Only The Truth 7. My Mistakes Were Made For You 8. Black Plant 9. I Don't Like You Any More 10. In My Room 11. Meeting Place 12. The Time Has Come Again
Overall, I love this album and The Last Shadow Puppets, and can't wait for their next album!

If you look at other CD reviews you will see what is needed information wise for a good review. Plus 10 reviews in a day is rather silly - people won't rate them and Ciao is not a get money quick scheme...Lissy
