Advantages: Nostalgic songs that bring back loads of memories Disadvantages: None for me - but I appreciate not everyone will like this list
singles had to appear in my top 10. With so many classics from Cum on Feel The Noize (I know it was a B side), Masterplan, Cigarettes and Alcohol, Don't Look Back in Anger and many others it has been a nightmare deciding which one would make my list. After much deliberation, it had to be Whatever.
Whatever was the song the Year 11's of 1997 (of which I was one) walked out of the school leavers assembly to with the lyrics "Free to be whatever I , whatever I choose and I'll sing the blues if I want". This song was played over and over at the leavers bash that evening and we never got bored of it.
Because of the lyrics this song seemed appropriate but little did we know that they are not true once we had grown up!
It is still a classic song though and holds many memories for me.
Blur - Song 2
I was never really ...
Advantages: Inspired my running Disadvantages: None
The following songs are my top ten songs which have helped me with my running this year. I have found that i am mostly inspired by rap,hip/hop and r'n'b when running so these kinds of music take up a good part of my list as well as a couple of surprises. At the start of the year i couldn't run for more than 5 minutes without being totally knackered. These songs mean a lot to me now as they have helped me reach my goals of running my first half marathon which took me just over 2 hours and also of losing 2 stone in weight this year. Anyway here goes not in any particular order but just my ten favourites.
10. Jay-Z - Change Clothes
From one of the most powerful men in music this song is upbeat and features one of my favourite artists Pharrell.
9. Coldplay - Speed of Sound
This probably sounds like an obvious choice but ...
Advantages: In my opinion they are all terrific songs Disadvantages: Of course people are going to have different music tastes & some won't like them
There's so many songs that I love & remind me of things but I'll try my best to name 10 of my favourites.
1) Aaliyah - I Miss You
I've always loved this song ever since it was released just after Aaliyah's tragic death in 2001. I loved all her songs & still listen to them on a regular basis. She really set the standard for artists like Beyonce & Rihanna to follow. I also love the video for this too, it's a great tribute to her.
2) 2pac - Dear Mama
I don't know what it is about this song but it really speaks to me, I think 2pac wrote great lyrics & is a real testimony in that they are still releasing his material which I think is great. I loved the duet with Eton John, he's the last person you'd expect to be associated with someone like 2pac but it just shows how respected he was & of course still is.
3) Ashanti - Rain On Me ...
