...Kind of Blue might have received most of the acclaim but Milestones, the recorded debut of the Miles Davis Sextet, is in the same league. This remarkable super group (featuring Davis's trumpet, tenor-saxophonist John Coltrane, altoist Cannonball Adderley, pianist Red Garland, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Philly Joe Jones) was arguably the greatest one Miles Davis ever led. "Two Bass Hit" features the two saxes trading off with fire and "Billy Boy" showcases the Red Garland trio (showing what they learned from AhmadJamal), but "Straight No Chaser" really demonstrates what a powerhouse band this was....

Advantages: Great lyrical depth Disadvantages: Not much you can pick out

With his father's backing on the cornet and L.E.S.'s imaginative compostion using samples by The Gap Band and Grover Washington Jr. there was a very jazzy feel to this one eventhough the topic was so dark. I really enjoy listening to it as you get to know how Nas grew up on the streets, and when his way of life sems so unlike what I'm used to, it seems fun, but from his tone and delivery, you can tell it was far from it.

The Old School Hip Hop musician T La Rock get a sample of "It's Yours" played in the background, but the legendary Pate Rock has manipulation it slightly for this one, which has simialr themes to the original. Advantages: Rocking / great if you like music with a guitar or 2! Disadvantages: Bit heavy / will not suit everyone!

"Detonation", "Anthem (We are the Fire)", and "Entrance of the Conflagration", are the best songs on the album, because they are technically the most impressive, lyrically most memorable and rockingly most dam rocking!
Some of the songs off the album are about famous killings. For example, "Entrance of the Conflagration" is about Andrea Yates's murder of her five children, "Unrepentant" is about Nazir Ahmad's murder...
