Slash returned in 2000 with the latest incarnation of the band known as Slash's Snakepit and the album "Ain't Life Grand". Following from the great "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" - A side project that Slash undertook whilst unsure of his Guns N' Roses career - "Ain't Life Grand" develops the late 80's rock sound with a modern twist. Slash has completely changed the linup of the Snakepit band. Rather than create a band that solely showcases Slash's incredible talent for playing the guitar the band is an assembly of good musicians - Each member as much a part of the group as Slash.

-------- Rod Jackson - Vocals -------- Rods vocals are sound great on the album, and are outstanding live - They are powerful and make a welcome change from the whine of Axl Rose (not that he is a bad vocalist), that we are so used to hearing with Slash. Rod has been compared to the likes of David Lee Roth (ex. Van Halen) and Brian Johnson (AC/DC).
-------- Ryan Roxie/Keri Kelli - Guitars -------- Ryan Roxie is the guitarist that appears on the album, providing a great alternative accompanyment to the lead of Slash. Keri Kelli is the excellent guitarist that has taken Ryans place on the world tour - Ryan leaving for other commitments.

The album is a great, pure rock album. The combination of different tracks on the album is great, from the powerful "Been There Lately", the cutting "Shine", the calm "Back to the Moment" to the head-banging "Speed Parade". I would certainly recommend this album to anyone who wants a refreshing rock album to lighten their life...life is grand after all...

Slash's Snakepit -
After Guns N' Roses Slash needed somewhere to exercise his musical talent, so after doing live shows he came up with Slash's Snakepit to make an album. "Its Five O'Clock Somewhere" was produced, a great selection of hard and fast rock tracks, with, as expected, great guitar.
Into 2000 and a new Snakepit lineup was created. "Ain'tLifeGrand" was released, and the Snakepit went on tour. Ain'tLifeGrand was possibly one of the best rock albums of 2000, combining Slash's great guitar with an excellent band, each member highly talented.
Touring a new guitarist came in: Keri Kelli, Keri made a great addition to the band (to replace Ryan Roxie), live they put on a great show, and have been touring/supporting AC/DC.
Slash, as always is a pleasure to watch, and a Snakepit show is well worth going to.

Fantastic album by a fantastic band, different from 'its five o' clock somwhere' but definately the better of the two although five o' clock is very good this album just has something it doesn't, a really kind of jazzy but rocky album, serial killer and ain'tlifegrand are the best tracks, came across slash's snake pit due to being a massive Slash fan and trying to find bands with slash in and loved them, they are unlike any other band i've ever heard, a definate listen for anyone who is a fan of GnR and Velvet Revolver, the lead singer has a great gravelly voice which really suits the rock and jazzy style of this album, absolutely love it although its really hard to get hold of anymore ...

Five years later, these famous names were jettisoned in favor of relative unknowns. The resulting album, AIN'T LIFE GRAND, found the top-hatted axe-man going from creating what might have been the next G'N'R record to conjuring up some fine hard rock reminiscent of vintage Kiss and Aerosmith. (Hiring the latter's long-time '70s producer Jack Douglas didn't hurt in achieving this goal). Slash's new frontman Rod Jackson possesses a raspy howl veering between Paul Stanley's sinister delivery (the creepy "Serial Killer") and Lenny Kravitz's soulful pleading (the hook-laden power-ballad "Back to the Moment"). Throughout, the guitarist's distinctive riffing defines AIN'T LIFE GRAND, whether on the swirling stomp of "Shine" or the hard-hitting boogie of "Been There Lately." The slinky title track also pleasantly surprises, thanks to a sultry marriage of saucy back-up singers, wailing sax, and rollicking piano.
