Review of Vol.3 (The Subliminal Verses) [PA] - Slipknot by andrewpyrah

Advantages: SLIPKNOT ARE BACK
Disadvantages: Some softer songs

...Another great album from Iowa's 9 piece tribute to pure metal glory. With new and improved masks and a new passion they come back. The new album, Vol.3 The Subliminal Verses, is both of mixture of Slipknot's past styles, experience and some influence from Corey Taylors other band Stonesour is shown in the vocals of Circle and Vermillion Parts 1 and 2. Certain tracks as expected hardcore classic slipknot such as Pulse of the Maggots, Duality and Three Nil. But the softer acoustics in Circle do give the album good variety. Other all, a good album, its not Iowa, buts it is Slipknot after the experience of other albums and live shows. There back and the Pulse of the Maggots has returned. STAY 666!... Read review

Taylor Made Timeless Classics
Review of Greatest Hits Vol.1 - James Taylor (Popular) by JonnyWigan

Advantages: Well crafted, unforgettable songs.
Disadvantages: Don't let your fashionable neighbour hear you listening to it!

...James Taylor started writing songs whilst at boarding school in New England during the early sixties, and even at such a tender age, his distinctive soft-toned North Carolina voice blended perfectly with a country inspired acoustic guitar technique. It was no surprise therefore, that on graduation, the young Taylor decided his future lay in a musical direction, and after spending a short and relatively unsuccessful stint with The Beatles’ Apple Records in London, he returned to the US and signed to Warner Brothers, launching a remarkable recording career that spanned from 1968 through to the present day. Taylor’s style of music is folk with a strong country influence, and although it’s never been a fashionable type of music to listen to (he probably stands alongside Mark Knopfler in the ‘Telented But Fashionably Clueless World... Varied selection from the godfather of folk-rock
Review of Greatest Hits Vol.1 - James Taylor (Popular) by emma-regina

Advantages: Stunning melodies, stunning lyrics, stunning voice and stunning guitars.
Disadvantages: There's not enough of it!

...James Taylor began to drift out of the mainstream music industry several years before I was even born, to be succeeded by artists like Joni Mitchell - with whom he played the Royal Albert Hall in 1970 - and John Denver. Taylor has long been considered unfashionable and outdated, if he is lucky enough to be remembered by the popular crowd at all. Be that as it may, the fact remains that it is to Taylor's Greatest Hits that I return over and over again. Taylor seems to have been forgotten as an individual artist - it's rare that you hear him played on the radio, these days - but he lives on as a legend, influencing much of modern folk-rock. James Taylor is, quite simply, one of the most talented musicians ever to be recorded. Like Mark Knopfler - another artist he has worked successfully alongside - he has a very distinctive...
