...Al Stewart is a British singer/songwriter, best known for the 1976 hit single 'The Year of the Cat'. He was born in Glasgow, grew up in Bournemouth and moved to the USA in the late 70s, where he has met with more success than in the UK, so much so that one track 'Time Passages' was used in an episode of the series The Sopranos. His career started in the mid-1960s and he is still going strong, having released over 20 albums in that time. He still tours, and I saw him live at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels a few years back.
= BETWEEN THE WARS, THE CONCEPT =
I remember that there was a vogue to produce concept albums, which seemed to be a pretentious term to excuse what seemed like the musical equivalent of a stream of conscience. Between the Wars is based around a single concept - what the world was like between the two...

Advantages: a beautiful album Disadvantages: sounds very 80 's
...Thanks to the people who helped me get the courage to write with my own words.LTM , the excellent label run by James Nice , that re-issue lots of lost records from almost unknoww artist like Paul Haig or Isabelle Antena , is doing a great job.
The album here sounds better than the original copy , has a nicer cover with lots of information and the cd is full of bonus , including 12" versions and B sides.
Produced by Martin Hayles (light house family , Orange juice) , recorded by Alan Moulder (Curve , Jesusand themarychain) , it has the sound of the eighties for sure but more like the first Sade or early Everything but the girl.
Definitely a good way to dicover Isabelle Antena.
Don't overlook the american re-issue of Camino del sol , the first record Isabelle did under the name Antena....

Advantages: Every song is different! Disadvantages: Some songs are much longer than others.
...I was first introduced to Weird Al's songs through the collection that my dad had lent me, quite some time ago. The songs were actually really different from what I had heard in the past, and really entertaining.
The actual contents of the CD range from titles like The Weird Al Show Theme to Your Horoscope For Today, and literally each and every song is completely unique and absolutely wonderful to hear.
The cover booklet is also really neat, which you'll get to see if you get the CD. It's got a picture of Al running around a track with these giant scissors.
These songs really add to my collection of songs on my computer, and of the nearly 5000 songs I have on there, these have got to be one of my favorites. I would definitely recommend this CD to fans of Weird Al's music....
