...Al Green puts everything into his music. He's now a Reverend, back to performing occasionally, but any recordings he makes nowadays are more likely to be gospel music than the smooth, sexy soul on this album.

He's very emotional - his hesitant vocal on "I'm so tired of being alone" makes you believe he means every word he's singing. He was involved in writing most of the songs, so it could all be based on his own experience. And yet, at times he manages to sound very laidback and understated.

A Classic Review ofGraceland [ECD] - Paul Simonby
cicymru
Advantages: see article Disadvantages: see article
...An album that spends a lot of time on my CD player, not a bad song on the whole album. The album has the classic Paul Simon writing and the harmonics of the African group Ladysmith Black Mambazo. A number of hit singles from the album notably 'Diamonds on the sole of her feet' and the one everyone knows 'Call me Al'. Although Ladysmith play a big part in the album there are a number of African artists on the album who give it a very grassroots sound. An album well worth the money although its now available on Nice Price - buy it....

Now a year an a half later and “Seven Easy Pieces” is still regularly on my play list it almost perfect...
