Alan Who?
Review of Very Best Of Alan Jackson, The - Alan Jackson by  james564

Advantages: It's different to most music!
Disadvantages: Not everyones cup of tea.

...Alan Jackson is a folk and country singer from Georgia. His music is mainly diddley-dee and all weird guitars and country genres. This isn't really the sort of music that i would like but because my dad bought it i sort of got hooked. This sort of music is also associated with NASCAR in America. ~~Gone Country~~ This song is fairly upbeat, and its about Alan's girlfriend and about the story of how she 'went country' and went back to her roots. Alan also says in the song thats its his last chance which could indicate many reasons for that line... he wants to tell her he loves her? ~~Drive (For Daddy Gene) This song is rather annoying and slow in the verses but more lively in the chorus. Alan explains his experiences when his ''daddy'' let him drive. He describes the car in the song and what he can see when hes driving. ''It... Read review

Take No Prisoners (Live) - Lou Reed
Review of Take No Prisoners (Live) [Remastered] - Lou Reed by  adams66

Advantages: superb sound, superb performances
Disadvantages: a couple of songs drag a bit

...Lou Reed himself originally wanted to call this album Lou Reed Talk And Talk And Talks. It's certainly an odd album, pitched midway between a straight live album and stand up comedy. There's over 100 minutes of music but only ten tracks which gives you an idea straight away that these are not simple live renditions of Lou's songs. By 1978 Lou had pretty much come out of his mid 1970s drug period. He was still not entirely clean, but was in better shape than he had been for at least five years. He had a superb band behind him, led by keyboard player Michael Fonfara, and most of them had been touring with Lou for a few years. The musicians were capable of playing the most tender ballad before suddenly and shockingly roaring off like a locomotive at full speed. Lou had a habit of extending or shortening songs on a whim, but the band... Read review

Radio 1 Sessions
Review of The Complete Radio 1 Sessions - Adam Ant by  webreaper

Advantages: A great collection of live recordings
Disadvantages: All but the last 3 tracks have already been released on the Peel Sessions CD

...After a few years of no releases from Adam Ant, there seems to be something of a revival at the moment. With the Antbox boxed set released in december and now this excellANT CD. The Complete Radio 1 Sessions is exactly what it says on the cover. The tracks are taken from four recording sessions at Radio 1. Tracks 1-4 recorded for John Peel 23/1/78, tracks 5-8 recorded for John Peel 10/7/78, tracks 9-12 recorded for John Peel 26/3/79 and tracks 13-15 recorded for Simon Mayo 13/1/95 16 years later. The tracks on the CD are..... 1. Deutscher Girls 2. Puerto-Rican 3. It Doesn't Matter 4. LOU 5. You're So Physical 6. Cleopatra 7. Friends 8. Zerox 9. Tabletalk 10. Ligotage 11. Animals and Men 12. Never Trust a Man (with egg on his face) 13. Wonderful 14. Antmusic 15. Gotta Be A Sin The first recording session brings... Read review
