...Albinoni's Adagios Albinoni is an Italian composer of the late Baroque era. The Baroque era, 1600 to 1750, is used musically to describe a period in music in which the techniques used and expression achieved share similar characteristics. An important characteristic of the Baroque era is the use of contrasts; loud and soft, fast and slow, solo and tutti (all instruments). Adagio an Italian word translated to English as slow. Albinoni used slow movements to provide a contrast to faster movements. He is credited with being the first Italian composer to use three movements for a concerto. A concerto being a genre of music, in which a small group of players is set against a much larger group thereby providing the contrasts of soft and loud, solo and tutti. ...prominent. Thus Vivaldi wrotes sonnets to accompany his music and to establish each thought in his mind. It is obvious to say then that Concerto is labelled Spring through to Winter, with three movements within each season. Most form again adopts the ABA construction, a favorite of Vivaldi. These are as follows: 1: Spring: Concerto No.1 in E Major Allegro / Largo / Allegro This I think, is the most well known of the Concertos, and has been used on numerous car adverts and airline adverts. This is what most people remember Nigel Kennedy playing at the very beginning of Nigel Mania!!!! Advantages: Everything you could ever want from a classical CD

...I have purchased and listened to many types of music and as a classical pianist always like to explore new CD's. This album has so many classics on it and is delightful to listen to. Did you know that opening music in 2001 - A Space Odyssey was from Also Sprach Zarathustra by Strauss or that the background music in the British Airways TV commercial was the Flower Duet from the opera Lakme?
