style in Brazilian music from samba and batucada to afoxe and adds a few more outside influences of his own with the fearless confidence of a self-appointed visionary. Traditional sambas ("Covered Saints," the beautiful ballad "Quixabeira") are juggled in with reggae, hip hop, '70s soul, rap, and occasional hard rock elements to create a swirling, idiosyncratic concoction of every conceivable musical permutation imaginable, but always Brazilian at its core; the batteria-heavy bloco Afro sound is all-pervasive, firing most of the tunes with an unmistakable carnival beat. Apart from some great young musicians, there are appearances from established megastars like Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, and Maria Bethana--further testament to the respect Carlinhos Brown now commands. With its P-Funk overtones, Alfagamabetizado is most certainly a work of the 20th century, but it is painted in the colors of the forest, the villages, the cities, the markets, and the people. --Derek Rath

Album Reviews: Spin (9/97, pp.158-159) - 9 (out of 10) - \"...Anyone predisposed to finding Brazilian music excessively gloopy will be bowled over by Brown's dangerous rhythms, culture-clashing arrangements, and screaming guitars. He possesses as fresh a funk sensibility as any starchild since Prince...\"

Advantages: Infectious Club banggin tracks along with slow jamz Disadvantages: one or two weaker tracks
...Chris Brown 2nd album titled 'Exclusive' is a big Improvement on his first album self titled 'Chris Brown'. The album features a variety of tracks to suit almost every RnB / Hip Hop fan. From slow ballad tracks to songs that make you wanna get up and dance to songs make you wanna get crunk in the club.
Brown has assembled a top notch crew of producers for this album, including Scott Storch, Sean Garrett, Brian the Underdogs, and will.i.am. This definatly shows with infectious club baggin beats like Wall to Wall and Kiss Kiss which are my two fav tracks on the album.
This album in my opinion is definatly the best RnB album out at this current time, but we shall see if it can stand the test of time with the release of Ushers new album coming in the near future....

Advantages: EVERYTHING YOU COULD ASK FOR FROM HIS SOLO CAREER Disadvantages: NO ROSES, NOT EVEN ANY CHOCOLATES!
...Just glancing over the track listing included at the end of this review is enough to hint at both the quantity and quality of Browns 9 year solo career. Defining moments that capture Browns full ability are commonplace, as are moments that pay homage to the agility that can be found throughout his eclectic back catalogue. From his 1998 single ‘My Star’ to his latest 2005 offering ‘All Ablaze’.
Collaborations with the likes of U.N.K.L.E and Noel Gallagher serve as strong reminders of the typical diversity that lies within almost every track. A mesmerising mixture of swaggersome guitar tunes, hard edged percussion driven tunes, psychedelic ‘what the hells going on’ tunes and refined string based tunes. They’re all here with Brown delivering clever vocal after biting vocal after tongue in cheek vocal. ‘The Greatest’ offers the long...
