Alhambra Palace?

Advantages: A comfy hotel in a good location.
Disadvantages: Poor sausages at breakfast and no disable access.

Over the weekend of 22nd to 24th September we spent an excellent weekend in York. We travelled up on the Friday morning, arriving just before lunchtime, and got the Sunday afternoon train back home. This gave us two evenings, one full day and a morning and an afternoon to enjoy this excellent city! We actually fell pretty lucky because we (quite unintentionally) happened to arrive at the start of the York Food & Drink Festival, so had food stalls, tastings and a 15 pub "Ale Trail" to occupy us; as well as all the usual sites on offer in York. But, this is all for another review?. ~~~LOCATION. Our accommodation for the long weekend was booked for us by a friend from Portsmouth. We were travelling there separately, but there would be just over 20 of us meeting up to virtually take over a hotel! We were staying at the Alhambra ...

Dine like a Duke

Advantages: Cracking food and a good price - for a pub!
Disadvantages: A bit small for buggies, awkward downstairs toilet access.

stairs and although I can't speak for the gents I imagine they'd be the same as the ladies so please, watch your head as the ceiling is so low in the toilet cubicles that if you happen to be 5ft 6" (like me) and get up too fast, you could end up concussing yourself on the arched ceiling. Having said that, the two cubicles themselves are always spotlessly clean, the basin has L'Occitaine handwash and hand cream and they also have one of those rather zippy Dyson Blade hand dryers plus a fair sized mirror for general hair and facial faffage. ~Recommended?~ If you are in the neighbourhood then yes, although there are lots of eateries in SJW if you can get into The Duke then I'd say go there. Its food that feeds you and not just food that fills you up. www.thedukeofyork.com 2 St Anne's Terrace St Johns Wood NW8 6PJ T) 0207 722 ...

Who has got the most beautiful Alhambra ?

Advantages: Easy to set-up and to play
Disadvantages: none I am aware of

Alhambra by Dirk Henn (Überplay-Queen Games) --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- Many of you might be familiar with the prestigious "Spiel des Jahres" award (German game of the year) and Alhambra won it in 2003. Not only that, it also won 2nd prize in Germany's second-most revered game award "Deutscher Spielepreis"in 2003. I tried to get hold of this game in December 2003 but it was sold out everywhere across Germany, such high was the demand at the time. I got this game for Christmas and it was one of the best games I ever got. This games is in the same league as "Carcassonne", "The Settlers of Catan" and "TransAmerica", I found. The rules are simple and setting it up is a quick affair. It can be played by 2-6 people, so if you fancy a game and your friends are nowhere ...
