From the outset, Stanton Moore declares his intentions - crazy drumming coupled with funk laden guitar riffs, bass lines and anything else he decides to throw in the mix! I was very impressed with this album. I'd heard alot about him, watched many drum videos and decided it was time I tracked down this album. The songs don't all follow the generic jazz structure, but rather contrast each other very well. My personal favourites would have to be the album opener Tchfunkta with it's opening rim sticking, and Nobody's Blues - a great jazz songfull of spirit.
I would definitely recomment this album to anyone looking for some real New Orleans jazz, with a difference. Moore's first attempt just goes to show how much potential he had, and his current releases show just how well he has realised this potential!
