All My Funky Friends - Dawn Silva

Advantages: Is personal, and the girl's voice is good!
Disadvantages: Not really, although one or two songs may be growers

...I have heard all the comparisons. Delta Goodrem, Christina Aguilera, Leanne Rimes, and they may even go on. But despite this, Lucie Silvas seems to shine with her own sound and her own style. Throughout the 13 track album her beautiful voice flows effortlessly over sometimes quiet and enchanting songs but perfectly compliments faster up tempo tunes. Without you ever having to read up on her background, the songs seem to be bravely displaying some very personal experiences and aspects of this young girls life. Her frist single 'What You're Made Of' is a song I like to play loudly for the sheer excuse that it's just so damn good! It was an excellent choice for her debut into the music scene, and instantly catupulted her into the spotlight. ...i really do love this album, my favourite song has got to be breathe in because thats what the whole song is about! i think that lucy silvas has got an absolutely incredible voice and she has a perfect style of her own that is so unique and individual. she is the sort of woman singer where if she started to sing you would almost instantly know who was singing. i saw lucy silvas sing at a concert it was actually will youngs concert at eastleigh, but lucy sang there before she was a major star and i knew that she would be huge one day. as she is now! anyway this album consists of amazing songs and i think that it is well suited for both sexes.... Advantages: Great funky beats, Harmony's that have to be heard to be beleived
Disadvantages: Riddle is a touch repetitive. Don't buy this album if unless you don't mind hearing Rachmaninov and Tcheikovsky with a modern twist!

...When the En Vogue album 'Funky Diva's' came out in 1993 I was blown away by the hip-hop beats, exceptional singing and harmony, and attitude of the all-girl R&B group. With such great songs as 'My Lovin' (Never Gonna Get It)' and 'Whatta Man' I think Funky Diva's really is a classic album It had been the first I had heard of the group, even though they had been on the music scene for a few years before then. After 'Funky Diva's', however, one of the band member's (Dawn) left the group and they had a couple of years in silence. Then came the album 'EV3' which I personally very disappointed with. It didn't have the same attitude and style as Funky Diva's and I thought there were very few stand-out tracks on EV3.
