Advantages: A great rock album from Queen's drummer Disadvantages: A few weak songs
...An amazing debut solo album written and performed entirely by Roger Taylor, the drummer of world famous rock band Queen. A great start with No Violins, a classic rock song followed by the 1970s single Future management and Good Times are Now. My Country I & II is my favourite track on the album and is great to listen to after a bad day at work! Although there are one or two weak tracks, like Fun In Space, the album is consistent and very enjoyable to listen to.
After listening to all four of Roger Taylor's albums, I think this one has to be the best. A completely different to sound to most of Queen's music, this album is refreshing to listen to and Roger's vocals are great!
I would definately recommend this album to any Queen or Roger Taylor fans, or anyone interested in trying some of his solo work....

Advantages: A few good songs, very good in fact Disadvantages: More boring songs than good ones
...I thought that Pink Floyd would disband when Roger Waters left as he was such a significant part of this popular beat combo ;-)
They stuck together though and this, in my opinion, shows some of the old Pink Floyd spirit even though he isn't among them any more. Incedentally I think Waters was wrong to claim he IS pink floyd and that the band couldn't use that name, because Dave Gilmour for one put so much into the pool of talent that was the Pink Floyd I liked so much.
Anyway, this album has some good songs on it - such as "What do you want from me" which has very impressive vocals and music as does "A great day for freedom" and "Coming back to life". I was well impressed with the artwork and sleeve notes, better than the music.
The rest of the album seems pretty bland though, not the hard hitting, reality biting Pink Floyd...

Advantages: Great music and lyrics! Disadvantages: Silly beard!
...legislate on blue
Tonight, we paint your mother green
Act our all our dreams, and we'll celebrate - me and you"
This song was one of my favourites, the lyrics are funny, catching your attention, then become tender and somewhat romantic, something Roger does very well, which is maybe why he still appeals to the legions of lady fans out there (even me, and he's twice my age!)
Roger has been through a lot in his life, he was involved ain a car crash that left a friend badly hurt when he was still in Cornwall, his father died young, and of course his best friend Freddie died in 1991. He seems to have poured out most of the feelings over Freddie's death in his previous album, Happiness, but there is still an echo in this album, with the song "Where are you now?". The lyrics are quite plaintive, with Roger asking over and over:
"Where are you now...
