a must listen for neoclassical/metal fans!
Review of Perpetual Burn - Jason Becker by thomasegan

Advantages: very skillful playing beautiful melodys
Disadvantages: largely unenjoyable to non-musicians, depending on your taste

...Jason Becker although not very well known these days, was a guitar virtuoso widely tipped to be one of the worlds top musicians during the 1980's, Jason started his musical career in metal/shred/neo-classical band known as Cacophony, with marty friedman (formally megadeth lead guitarist) who realeased 2 albums in the late 80's titled "speed metal syphony" and "GO OFF!" After his work with Marty, Jason Becker began work on this album "perpetual burn" this album is one of my all time favourites, it features very clever sweep picking melodys as well as beautiful clean sections and classical style playing, I would definately recommend this album to any guitarists looking for either a challenge to play or any intrested in neo-classical. Jason Becker's style in my opinion is comparable to that of other guitarists such as Yngwie Malmsteen... Read review

Tonight and every night in this house!
Review of Tonight, Not Again: Jason Mraz Live at the Eagles Ballroom - Jason Mraz by Ailran

Advantages: A live album like no other live album ever!
Disadvantages: Um...ah... None!

.... This review is about ‘Tonight, Not Again - Jason Mraz Live At The Eagles Ballroom. ‘Tonight, Not Again’ was recorded live at The Eagles Ballroom (surprisingly!) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 28th 2003 and features 14 tracks, seven from the album and seven others (new, older and live only it is difficult to tell as all tracks are copyrighted 2003). Although there are seven songs from WFMRTC they are so different live that they are almost completely new songs. Adlibbed verses, a more distinct percussion sound and some brass interludes for example. Often with live albums, and this is the main reason I tend not to buy them, the only difference from the original songs is a slight rawness (often removed too much these days in post production) to the sound, solos and the interaction between the band/singer and the audience. Not so with ‘Tonight... Read review

...And Metal For All
Review of And Justice For All - Metallica by Rude

Advantages: Metallica doing what they do best - Thrash Metal!
Disadvantages: Production qualities could be better.

...their original bassist, Cliff Burton, died when their tour bus crashed. James Hetfield in particular was distraught with grief, and found it impossible to come to terms with even years later. For a while the band considered carrying on without a bass player, but eventually decided on Jason as a replacement. The lack of bass is not down to bad production so much as James eliminating it because the thought of Jason taking over from his best friend was too much to contemplate. It is hard to pick a standout track because they all have their merits, but I suppose the one most people would identify with is 'One', a great song about a soldier injured in war who wants to be allowed to die. The lyrics are incredibly intelligent and James' singing is full of spite and emotion. For me the emotional high-point (low-point?) comes in the track "To Live Is To Die... Read review
