Last year the pop world went wild for the new sensational boy band Blue! If any of you have listened to their music or have bought their album ‘All Rise’ I am sure you will agree that Blue are a talent to be watched.
Already winning a Brit Award for best newcomers this year blue look destined for huge things. As I enjoyed all three singles that have been released and the new one currently on the go I thought I would give the album a go.
The album is described as ‘A fantastically mature debut album’, ‘Smooth, slick and super sexy’. In that respect I have to agree one of the best albums I have bought in a while and here is my run down of the tracks and the CD itself.
# 1 ~ All Rise
This was first single release form these guys and shot straight into the charts at # 4 and hung about the charts for weeks. The song starts of with a fantastic intro that I debate is either a harmonica or an accordion type instrument any one know give us a shout!
The song is seemingly to do with being honest in a relationship and this is the lover confronting the cheating party! You all know this was about for ages and is a great song!
# 2 ~ Too Close
This song is very mature and is actually the
song that they used at their audition with Virgin and they asked if they could record it at a later date Virgin agreed just as well as this gave Blue their first # 1 back in August of last year.
This is very soulful and has a superb R ‘n’ B feel all they way through the song, through the chorus there is some excellent female vocals who I believe is AWSA but not to sure who she is and not been able to find any other info on her. I like this one very relaxing!
# 3 ~ This Temptation Starting of very much like Spice Girls ‘Holler’ and continues on with pretty much the same beat and tempo throughout but unique in it’s own way as Blue’s great vocals kick into action.
A fairly upbeat number that would be good as a single release and would prove the guys really do mean business in the pop world. A powerful verse at the end brings the song to an excellent climax.
# 4 ~ If You Come Back
This is single number 3 from the album and second # 1 and is a beautiful and amazing soul song that is an excellent ballad. This is the first track that Blue ever recorded together and is the one that really stuck in my mind as the one that shows how diverse the boy’s vocal ranges can be.
This song has an excellent video to accompany it making the entire band look all the part hunks that they really are!
# 5 ~ Fly By
Single release number four and receiving excellent support from the likes of CD:UK and getting absolutely loads of air play on radio ensuring that this should get another high chart position when it is released in March although up against stiff competition as Gareth Gates (Pop Idol) and George Michael release their material on the same day.
Again very soulful material fairly mellow with a catchy upbeat chorus sounds very American and is obviously the sound the guys are trying to achieve a great song just a shame it could be denied a number one spot.
# 6 ~ Bounce
This is a very upbeat and jumpy song with a funky bass line that sounds very much like the guys are having a brilliant time. An excellent album filler however, the end of the song is fairly repetitive with a very long instrumental section that leads back to more vocals of the same stuff and back to instrumental. Apart form that good song!
# 7 ~ Long Time
This one starts of just like ‘If You Come Back’ and proves to be the same sort of slushy ballad.
The chorus is beautiful though and is powerful through to the end and I find I listen to this one on repeat every now and again.
# 8 ~ Make It Happen
We are back to upbeat and female vocals, however, this track I find very non-committal. The chorus in this one again is powerful but does not really take me anywhere.
Through to the end of the track the female vocals really compliment the band’s vocals and make it a little more interesting and has a BSB kind of feel to it.
# 9 ~ Back To You
This song is a big no for me as it seems to be Blue’s attempt at rock and they don’t suit it. Maybe just this song but it sounds very hollow and as if the guys sound strained and not really enjoying it at all.
With the rapping in the middle it just sounds absolutely ridiculous.
# 10 ~ Girl I’ll Never Understand
Here we are straight back to the Blue we know and love and a great slushy ballad and a song that would make excellent single material. This is pure R ‘n’ B and would go down a storm in America.
# 11 ~ Back Someday
This is one of the longer playing tracks on the album and you guessed it, it is another ballad. Well that’s what the guy’s are good at these sorts of songs.
It is a good song with good lyrics and is very easy to listen. The chorus is powerful and compliments the voices of all the guys and has a very Spanish feel to it I feel!
# 12 ~ Best In Me
This one is slow to start with very few words etc and does not really go anywhere, very accapella feel to it and shows that Blue are really good at what they do, however, not really fond of this one all that much.
So for their first effort the guys have came up with a cracking debut although they do tend to over do it on the ballads a little. I like this album and look forward to another form these guys year after year!
This is a great album. Too close and best in me are my favorite songs. Sarah x

Leigh-Ann likes Blue a lot, so I think she'll want this album too.
After three top five singles, two of which went straight in at number one, four-piece Blue ... more
release their debut albumAll Rise. Having heard "Too Close", "If You Come Back" and the fabulous "All Rise", the rest of the album doesn't offer many surprises. ...
