Blue are a UK boyband consisting of Simon, Duncan (best known for being an utter manwhore), Antony and Lee. They are more R'n'B than pop in my opinion, but they are known as a pop band, and this is their first album. They have since released One Love.
1) All Rise This is their first single. It's more pop than R'n'B but that's no bad thing! It is catchy and likeable, and was a success as their first release. There's a bit of rapping there from Simon. He's not that good at it but it adds a nice touch to the song! 9/10
2) Too Close Their second single. I'm quite inclined to hate this as it was the first song me and my ex-boyfriend ever danced to, but it is good! It's quite smooth and sexy, and great for dancing too with someone you fancy and want to ask out! It's a cover song, but I haven't heard the original. Very nice, one of my favourites from the album. 10/10
3) This
Temptation This is instantly recognisable as Blue. It's about... you guessed it, temptation! It's okay but a bit of a filler-song, it's not really that memorable and definitely not the best on the album. 7/10
4) If You Come Back Their third single. I loved this when it came out, but the lyrics annoy me! Don't be so desperate sweetheart, she left for a reason! It's very romantic but a bit sickly for me. Lee screeches and wails a bit which is very offputting, but overall it's a decent song. 8/10
5) Fly By Blue are coming over all American on us! Very catchy and it's poppy with an R'n'B edge, which is what Blue do best! The words can be a bit cheesy after a while. Very similar to All Rise. 8/10
6) Bounce It isn't quite good enough to be released as a single, but it's not as dull as the other fillers! It's enjoyable while it's there but ultimately, it doesn't leave an impression and it's easily forgettable. Quite dancey and poppy and should keep Blue fans happy. 8/10
7) Long Time My favourite from the album. It's very sweet and soft, quite a change from the usual Blue material. I do love this song - I feel all warm and fuzzy when I hear it, and it reminds me of my boyfriend! The lads do have lovely voices which can be wasted on some of the songs they sing but this showcases it perfectly, especially Duncan. Who knew such a slag could sing so well?! Even Lee's warbly bits slot in perfectly. I just can't fault this song at all. Amazing. The album is worth buying just for this song. It's such a shame it wasn't released! It would have done really well. 10/10
8) Make It Happen Back to standard Blue fare now. It's quite cheery and upbeat, but it is, like Bounce and This Temptation, just an album filler. It reminds me of a watered down version of the Backstreet Boys. 6/10
9) Back To You Blue, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! They're trying to steer towards a more rocky sound on this song, but it just doesn't work and they sound stupid, and it doesn't suit their voices! There's also an attempted rap, which just adds to the embarrassment. 5/10
10) Girl I'll Never Understand Back onto safer ground here. It's very R'n'B and quite slushy. I quite like it, it is very enjoyable, but it isn't really memorable, in my opinion. One of the better slowies on this album. 8/10
11) Back Someday A power-ballad! It's okay but again, nothing special. There's not a lot to say about this song. It's satisfactory, but doesn't leave a lasting impression. It'll do, I suppose. 7/10
12) Best In Me It's a decent song but not one of the best (I've said that a lot in this op!). I think they could have changed the songs about and ended this album on a high, but there you go! Too slushy and it's just not for me. 7/10
Blue do have a lot of talent, and this album doesn't quite do them justice. Stuff like All Rise and Long Time are brilliant, but then you have Back To You and Best In Me! There are no bad songs as much, just a lot of boring stuff that merges into one!
This album is definitely worth buying though, for the eight good songs on this album. If you bought all eight songs seperately for £3 each, it would add up to £24, so think of it like that!
I listen to this album quite a lot, and I don't get bored of it. It's a staple in my CD collection, and I don't get bored of it! Some songs sound a bit dated now, but it's still enjoyable.
You can get this album quite cheap, as it's been around for ages now, and they have a new one, One Love, out. The cheapest I have seen is in Music Zone for £5.
Well as for the Duncan comment, apparently according to someone who shall remain namesless he's also into fellas!!! and hes got a secret daughter. I'll prob get sued for saying that though.
