...I have no doubt that you have/havent heard of this song writer and composer. Mike Oldfield is probably the most prolific music person on this planet and has produced some timeless classics in his collection of many great CDs and Songs. You may recognise his 'Tubular Bells' piece as the theme from the Exorcist, this was a great piece and now has been updated into Tubular Bells 3 - which is an album in itself. Some of the greatest albums by Mike Oldfield are Tubular Bells 1, 2, 3 and the best of all 'Songs of Distant Eart' - inspired by Arthur C Clarke's book 'Songs of Distant Earth' - in fact Oldfield actually asked if he could make a soundtrack for the book - it is amazing, you simply have to listen to know how original and brilliant it is. ...Tubular Bells is without question the best selling album of all time FACT ; not only did it serve Mike Oldfield well, but it turned Richard Branson into a Millionaire as he was the only person who would take Oldfield on. When Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells 2 was launched in 1992 he was expecting it to be a runaway success like the original. It flew into the charts took the number one position for a couple of weeks then left without a trace. Having sunk a lot of investment into this project in the respect of time, money and his personal health and relationships Tubular Bells came in at a loss. With his financial difficulties mounting up, his relationship in chaos Oldfield fled the UK; his choice of location an up and coming island known as Ibiza. Advantages: Mike Oldfield at his best!!!
Disadvantages: No track access on CD

...doing what he does best,sewn together with all kinds of weird and wonderful sounds. There are a few niggles,like the CD pressed as only 1 track ,making it difficult to access your favoutite section.Also,some of the sounds are,at times,a bit too startling.This is not an album to relax to. If you want to hear a commercial Mike Oldfield album,this is not the one.On the other hand,if you want to hear Mike Oldfield at his creative best,this is the one to get.... Read review
