I have been an Elvis fan since a very early age, despite being born several years after his passing. When I was a little kids back in the 1980's, I saw the movie "Elvis - The True Story" starring Kurt Russell and (having discovered the Beatles around the same time as well) became a fan of the man who is still the king of music and remains one of the worlds most popular entertainers, not just to the millions of people who adored him during his life time, but to the many, many more who have since become fans in the decades that have followed!

Presley had his first success in the 1950s while recording for Sun Records, having charted for no less than 39 weeks at #1 on the country music charts. It was after his first six singles that RCA saw potential in his country-R&B-gospel blend of rock n roll music and bought his contract from Sun for a hefty sum at the time ($35,000 - the biggest buy out deal in music history at that point). Elvis then found world-wide fame with "Heartbreak Hotel", a classic rock ballad that was a #1 hit and eventually sold more than 10 million records. Presley, of course, would go on to have many, many more million selling singles and albums, such as "It's Now or Never", "Jailhouse Rock", "All Shook Up", "Hound Dog", "Don't Be Cruel", "Surrender", "Return To Sender" and "Suspicious Minds", to name but a small selection!

During the 21 years that he was recording, Presley proved to be the ultimate entertainer. Not only was he one of the greatest singers to ever make records, he also was one of the greatest live performers as well and had a second career as one of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars. His music continues to be the most heard world-wide, with regular airplay on radio and on television, as well as thousands and thousands of tribute shows given by the good, the bad and the ugly... some may come close to impersonating the man, but none are as good as the real McCoy!
