Vonda Shepherd is back, this time with her selection of songs (mainly cover versions) from the second series of Ally McBeal. To be fair it is a pretty decent album.
An interesting transistion from the album which accompanied the first series is that this album is geared more towards Shepherd than the show. She appears a great deal more on the album sleeve and inlay card than on the first album, although on occasion she does share space with Calista Flockhart. Again most of the songs are covers, but Shepherd has an upbeat sound all of her own.
Perhaps it serves to show that Shepherd is as vital to the show as any actor/actress now. Her songs frame the story, but they are excellent in their own right. “Vincent”, “Crying” and “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” are probably the best tracks on the album, but it is one you can listen to all the way through without any trouble at all.
