Advantages: One of the best Nu Metal albums that has ever been released.
Disadvantages: It is imperfect, there was definitely room for improvement.

...to impress me. I love the way that this track progresses, there is not one moment of weakness here and always all elements of the music come across well. With this being their début album and all, the music of Slipknot was not always particularly great here and often mistakes are made but this is one such example of a track where no mistakes are made whatsoever. Other tracks that impress here are 'No Life', 'Spit it Out', and 'Tattered & Torn'; all three of these are brilliant and I loved them all back when this album was first released. The music of Slipknot is greatly aggressive and it is this that makes their music so great to listen to, they were part of the Nu Metal scene and yet their music is so much more raw than many of the other bands that were a part of this scene. Advantages: Return to form
Disadvantages: this CD has no bonus tracks

...The first thing that really hits you with this album is, surprisingly, the cover, a very retro themed black and white cityscape. i felt that the cover of this album matches the feel and themes really well and has definitely been well thought out. it is clear that every building is in its place, a refreshing break from the often meaningless and juxtaposed album covers of modern artists. My favorite track on the album are Hollow Man, which has beautiful lyrics along with a really well though tempo changes. Im sure that there is an element of their hit Stand in there but coupled with dark and dejected lyrics Hollow Man is a really unforgettable track. If i had to pick a weak song i would probably opt for Man-Sized Wreath, not because its particularly bad but i personally dont like the drums on the track and think that it brings it down...
