Advantages: Love Shack Disadvantages: Bit patchy
...The B-52’s were one of the American bands who exploded onto the scene at the time of the new wave emerging in England, but they owed little to the sound of London. They had their own distinctive sound and visual style and harked bak to the 1950’s.
After a lot of cult success in the late 70’s, with the massive Rock Lobster single amongst others, they re-emerged (at least in the UK) ten years later with the blast of dance music that was Love Shack, one of the most popular tracks of the late 80’s and this was the stand-out track on their 1989 album, Cosmic Thing.
By now the outfit was a four piece, with Kate Pierson, Fred Schneider, Keith Strickland and Cindy Wilson and producing duties were shared between Nile Rogers (formerly of Chic) and Don Was (of the enigmatic duo Was Not Was). This was the Athens band at their good time best...

Advantages: These Dreams beautiful song Disadvantages: A little too 1980's?
...Probably the best and most commercial of all the Heart albums.
Heart are a Canadian group lead by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson.
The basic is soft rock music or as some call it Stadium Rock, but this album has a few really good rock tracks that are great for example If looks could kill.
It has a 10 track album, possibly a little short if I'm being critical.
I good blend between rock and ballads.
The track that will stick out for most is the haunting "These Dreams" which is song by Nancy wheras Ann usually stars on the Vocals.
It is a thought provoking and wonderful song.
It has a clasic 1980's feel to it. With all the big hair and polished sound.
You can pick an album like this on e-bay for a few pounds.
I would recommend it just for These Dreams alone.
The produced a further album of note "Bad Animal" which is also well worth a listen....

Advantages: Varied, Stylish, Mellow, Heavy, Contrasting Disadvantages: Lacking in places, A few song spoilers
...So your sat here wondering just who Porcupine Tree are? They are best described as an ex-underground but heavily experimental band. They formed in the late 80s, with the lead guitarist/vocalist Steve Wilson
Deadwing's opening track of the same name, starts in true prog-rock style. A synth which gradually opens up into a heavy riff with drums to boot. Its probably a notch down from the quality of the rest of the album however.
Its second track Shallow, continues the heavy trend, opening with a real-heavy riff that continues throughout , sandwiched between piano and acoustic sections. Wilson hammers out the vocals but the vocals aren't ear splitting as you might expect from the overall heaviness of the track.
Lazarus however is a complete contrast, its a gentle piano piece throughout. Wilson's vocals are almost angelic, with lovely use...
