Advantages: First Good XTC album Disadvantages: The track "Millions"! (Dreary!)
...XTC's third album "Drums and Wires" stands apart from it's
predecessor's due to the fact that it's consistently good
(sometimes superb!)
Wheras "White Music" and "GO2" were obviously recorded by
a very young and inexperienced band, "Drums and Wires" was their
coming of age album.
It gave them their first hit single "Making Plans For Nigel"
which was Colin Moulding's first good song! (sorry Colin!)
It also contains one of Andy Partridge's most powerful vocal
performances in the stunning "Complicated Game".
The production throughout the album is also excellent, unlike
the very dated sound of the previous two.
Overall, this album still sounds pretty fresh even today,
and it's worth buying for "Complicated Game" alone, because
it's the first example of Andy Partridge's genius!...

Advantages: Great variety, Awesome songs, Superior Mixing by Andy C! Disadvantages: Wish it was longer!!
...Having always been an Andy C fan, I got this CD as soon as I heard about it and saw that it had received several awards which made me even more excited!
The variety of tracks found on the two CDs is amazing! 29 tracks on the first CD and 14 on the 2nd. Eventhough the tracks vary so much, they way they are mixed together by Andy C just makes the whole CD flow along into one long pleasurable experience!
I actually took this cd to my friends in the states to listen on the long drives there and they listen to country and rock.. but after I played this CD we were listening to it over and over on the long drives! I gotta say, fantastic road music, makes the drive go by quickly.
Some amazing songs on the 1st CD including:
Logitics - Together
DJ Fresh - Submarines
Subfocus - X-Ray
Ed Rush - Bacteria
Calyx - Headhunter
Future Prophecies...

Tracks To Listen Out For:-
You're Not Alone: "...There's Just Too Many Dreams In This Wasteland For You To Leave Us All Behind..." - This is an inspired song encouraging people that have to settle for being treated badly to stick together and try and make a difference. I also recommend listening to the T in the Park acoustic version (check video websites).
We'll Live And Die In These Towns: "...Dirty dishes from a tv meal, gone cold from the wind through a smashed up window..."- The topic of this song is the frustration felt when people think they will be stuck in a lifestyle they hate forever. Very cool brass intro, Highly recommend a listen. There my two favourite tracks on the album.
I can guarentee that you will love every track on this album, and like me, you will wonder why these aren...
