...Let’s face it, Bat out Hell if a classic. Each song is memorable in it’s own right but two stand out to me, Bat out of Hell with it’s revving of motorcycles and it’s piano; and the other is Paradise by the Dashboard Light which lasts forever and has three brilliant parts to it. Jim Steinmen’s writing ability reached it’s peak with this album and the worldwide success it enjoyed just proves the point about how good it is. It spent over 300 weeks on the UK charts alone. If you enjoy rock then buy this album. 70’s rock was the best in terms of rawness and rockiness...

...myself falling in love with certain songs again that I hadn't heard for years such as Carole Bayer Sager's 'You're moving out today' and Neil Sedaka's 'Laughter in the rain.' Both songs have fantastic lyrics and a catchy melody to go with it that puts the majority of today's music to shame. Why they are seldom heard on the radio today begs belief.
The vast bulk of the compilation could be described as simply good pop songs or the sort of MOR type stuff that characterised radio hits at the time. So you're guaranteed getting reliable, feelgood, simple tunes with catchy lyrics that are perfect for long journeys. However, the inclusion of the classic soul anthem 'Swing you daddy' by Jim Gilstrap and the blue eyed soul numbers by The Doobie Brothers ('What a fool believes') and Hall & Oates' 'Rich Girl' adds to the colourful variety featured here...
