John Mayall still Britain's Best Blues performer

Advantages: Great night for British Blues fans....
Disadvantages: An expectation of vintage guitar work, somewhat lacking in conviction

Billed as the return of the 'Big 2', the series of live concerts featuring the Peter Green Splinter Group and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, arrived at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on November 13th. This is an excellent venue for the devotee to actually hear the music of their heroes, so I settled in to re-live the music of 2 great acts. First to take the stage was the Peter Green group and to much acclaim a confident set began to form. There was an immediate feeling that although fronting the band, Peter Green was not actually leading by example, and throughout played more of a supportive role to the excellent Nigel Watson. There were signs through the occasional riff that Peter Green was still a guitar master, but you felt that there was never going to be the energy shown from his earlier work with John Mayall and with Fleetwood ...

Review of Peter Green John Mayall Concert

Breaking into the Blues....

Advantages: Some great guitar work from Peter Green, introduced to a new genre of music
Disadvantages: The odd weak track, some over generic sounds.

I was recently set a challenge. You see plod951 had complained to me, that while my music good, he never knows any of the bands I review. So, I took it upon myself to do a review that he would be able to read and know what I was talking about, and thought the best way to do this, was to get him to suggest who I need to review. His suggestion was John Mayall?s Bluesbreakers. Next, I had the difficult decision to decide what album I should review, a quick search around lastfm.com, I discovered ?A Hard Road?, which was their third album, released in 1967. I haven?t listened to any of them properly yet, but thought, I need to pick and album and stick to it. The Band Not knowing anything about the band, I decide that it would be prudent to research them, so a journey to Wikipedia was scheduled. Simply put, they say: ?John ...

Review of Hard Road, A [Remastered] - John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers

Riding along on the Brink of a wave.

Advantages: A family run and efficient company.
Disadvantages: You have to go home!!

and run by the Thwaite family. It has recently bought another old boating name in Wroxham - Moore and Co and added it to their business. This review is of our last hiring of a boat - Supreme Star 2 - from their boatyard. On our arrival at the boatyard, we were quickly, couteously and efficiently dealt with by a member of the reception staff - Margaret. Another staff member lead us to a car parking bay immedaitely at the stern of our boat which made it quick and easy to load on all our belongings and groceries, we were then shown to our long-term parking bay for the week. The boat was very well presented, clean inside and out and on checking al the bed linen and ittineray items were present - along with a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates!! Within five minutes of us being sorted our handover began. This handover was ...
