..., which I love because Zach will quite happily sing along with me in the car. 'Too soon' to know is the original 1966 recording.
Although, in 1996, when I got the album, it was not the in thing to have DVD extras on music CDs, this CD has a 'hidden surprise', a song called 'Goodnight'. A total of twenty one
songs and sixty minutes of playing time, makes it an ideal album for the car, long enough to go a decent distance before getting bored of the music!!
Although originals of Roy Orbison are quite hard to come by due to a bankruptcy of , I think Monuments Record label, who recorded his earlier work. ( Dont quote me on that!!) it is a pleasure to hear his songs whether in original format or not. This album has been dissed for having remastered Roys great works but it means that his music can live on for longer. Roy always said, when asked...

Lovely bloke Review ofBest Of Roy Orbison, The - Roy Orbisonby
michellej
Advantages: Disadvantages:
...I originally bought this album for my mother, and well since she's in a different country and disappeared yonder - I guess she can't have it!
Roy Orbison was one of the best in his time and with hits like 'I drove all night, 'Only the lonely', 'You got it', 'Crying' and 'She's a mystery to me', this is the album for the oldies. (Well, not old folk exactly, but you know what I mean).
Roy Orbison has a very deep voice I find and if he needs to hit the high notes, he doesn't have a problem at all.
This record is great whether you are young or old, or don't even know who Roy Orbison is!
It's all musical education!...

Advantages: Classic tunes Disadvantages: Some mysogyny, however it's spelt!
...I think this is Elton’s best album, even though it was originally a double, there are very few songs that sound like filler. It’s very 70s, with glam (“Bennie & the Jets” ); cod-reggae (“Jamaica jerk off”); and songs which were probably quite influential in their way - like The Rubettes (“Your sister can’t twist but she can rock n roll”) and many of the uptempo numbers sound like Meatloaf.
There are many musical styles on here. The start of “Saturday night’s all right for fighting” could be The Who (they later recorded their own version of it for the “Two rooms” tribute). There’s a good proportion of ballads, too - “I’ve seen that movie too”, “RoyRogers” “Harmony”, and of course the classics “Candle in the wind” and “Goodbye yellow brick road”.
The album starts with the marathon “Funeral for a friend / Love lies bleeding” (at over 11...
