Who are MEW?... who cares? Brilliant album
Review of And The Glass Handed Kites [Digipak] - Mew by nrswain

Advantages: Catchy and Original.
Disadvantages: A few songs sound the same but with different lyrics

...Saw this album getting good reviews in many music magazines and thought i'd give it a try even though i didnt have a clue who Mew were. Was definatly not disappointed. Their sound is very original, soaring vocals and surging guitars are words that have been used to describe their sound but theres so much going on in their songs that its impossible to describe.go out and get it and see for yourself, it wont let you down. The Zookeepers Boy and Chinaberry Tree are stand out tracks so skip straight to them but the album as a whole is brilliant. A must buy if you like bands like Sigur Ros or Elbow but i would argue that MEW are a cut above the rest in their field.... Read review

Review of Funeral [Digipak] - Arcade Fire (The) by black_dog

Advantages: Original, funny, terrifying, scary, emotional...the list goes on
Disadvantages: Are there any? Not every track is instantly accesable, but get into it!

...in the heart of man" in Neighbourhood 4 (Power Out), we really believe him. His anger in the lines "I went out into the night, I went out to pick a fight with anyone" again is felt. Power Out, by the way, is perhaps the pinnicle of the album. It contains everything that makes the album great: soaring choruses, pounding, dance-like druming, wonderous guitars and those incredible melodies that just seem to slide out of nowhere. It's over five minutes long, but you want it to go on forever. Every song is worthy of mention; from the absolute delicacy of Crown Of Love to the surging "oooooooohhhhhs" of Wake Up, to the simple beauty of Haiti. But the other song that I really must write home about is Rebellion (Lies). WOW. Along with Power Out, the best song on the album. the lyrics, as far as I can tell, are a metaphor for fear of death... Read review
