...This is where it all began for the metal band TOOL, this is there first EP called Opiate. It deal's with strong themes such as censorship, mind controle and religion. Fast pased and harsh lyrics. Very loud and agressive type of music. The kinda music that'll make you wanna slap your own mama, no joke. The CD features 6 songs, which includes "Cold and ugly" and "Jerk-off" being perfomed live!. The songs are shorter in length compared to there 13 minute long epic's off there later album "lateralus" All songs are good, "jerk-off" being a personal favourite. Okay now im not gona rumble on about what the songs are about because the band prefer that people listen to the album, think for themselves and take the lyrics how ever they want! wow such an open minded band. ...Crossroads is actually not an album in its own right. Instead, it is a collection of the bands best songs, as decided by the fans of the band in a survey in the early nineties. In fact, due to its nature, many bon Jovi fans thought that this would be the final album that the band would produce. However, the future has shown us that this assumption was not the best, as they are still going strong today. This album starts with the classic "Living on a Prayer" and encompasses other greats such as "Bed of Roses", "You give love a bad name", and the tear-jerking "Never say Goodbye". ...I first got this album a few years ago, and I always come back to it for another listen. Bill Janowitz soaring, yet low key vocals span out over a fuzzy country/folk style background, giving the album a feel as a whole, rather than as seperate components. Buffalo Tom are one of those bands that stomp authority into their tunes, which can be seen in TreeHouse and Soda Jerk. Vocals and instruments lap ino each other delightfully, sounding like a mournful summer.Brilliant if you like your music a bit doleful, and briliant if you dont.... Read review
