...2000 was a great year for us Denim Boys and Girls, a Tribute Album to Turbonegro "Alpha Motherfuckers" was released, and those wonderful people at Bitzcore decided to re-release their first album with extra tracks. This meant that I no longer was in bidding wars with other Turbojugend on ebay to get my hands on this elusive piece of Death Punk. Originally recorded in 1992 it is more metallic than their subsequent releases and Denim and Sailors are not as highly prominent on this album, but the later is represented on the intro to Kiss The Knife. The entire album is a raw and abrasive punk-metal beast from the fierce attack of "Librium Love" to the wonderful "Armed and Fairly Well-Equipped" which has a simply superb hook...... "Suburban Anti-Christ" is a ferocious 1 minute and 58 seconds dealing with growing up in suburbia obviously... Read review

...Turbonegro hail from Oslo and are simply the best band that you probably never have heard of. In the 90's they released the best punk album of the decade (Ass Cobra), followed by the best rock album of the decade (Apocalypse Dudes). On top of producing the two finest albums of the decade the also had the best image that any band has had since the Ramones, that was Demim, Mascara, Homosexuality and Facist imagery*. All of these combined with some of the greatest rock and roll imaginable meant that live they are a true vision of brillance. Then in 97 it all went tits up and the band split due to what was described at the time as an impending religious crisis. Advantages: Great tribute to a great composer.
Disadvantages: Not suitable to anyone who isn't familiar with Morricone's music.

...I think the title of this album should be considered a solid fact. We do all love Ennio Morricone! He's easily one of the best composers of recent times, and hundreds of films would be lost without his music. Despite not giving a full picture of Morricone's work, i think this is still a great tribute album. The fact that artists from Celine Dion, to Bruce Springsteen, to Metallica, ahve come forward to pay their tributes shows the extent to which Morricone has touched the world. I found out about this tribute from the Metallica website when they announced they'd recorded their own version of "Ecstasy Of Gold", and I immediately bought it. Ecstasy of Gold, and Bruce Springsteen's "Once Upon A Time In The West" are my favourite tracks on the album, but they all have their strengths. At that, I wouldn't say that any of the artists...
