The album 'Start A War' could be one of the best Static-X albums, with the return of original guitarist Koichi Fukuda, who left the band but was still doing the electronics. Now he does both. Right from the start you can hear the great music of Static-x, full of rythm, heavy metal and industrial influences. The songs are very catchy and well produced. This is a masterpiece. Dont take my word for it, if you like Static-X you'll definately love this album.

Beneath...Between...Beyond... Review ofBeneath Between Beyond (The Ultimate Collection Of Static-X Rarities) [PA] - Static-Xby

Advantages: Plenty of songs Disadvantages: Not quite their best record
...Released on 19/07/2004, the latest addition to the Static-X series does not quite reach the quality of previous albums, such as their classic 2nd album "Machine" ( released 11/06/2001).
The first few songs e.g., Breathe, Anything But This, Down, Head etc are reminicent of their best tracks, to name a couple Push It, Black And White, Cold etc. They have the crunchy heavy "industrial" sound that Static-X do so well. Some of the songs (S.O.M, Crash etc) are not AS good, but still are worth a listen for a metal fan.
However, as we go through the album, we come to the remixes. The first remix (JB's Death Trance Mix of "Push It") i have to say is pretty poor. Admittedly, the song is one of their best, and would be hard to make much better in a remix, but the style of the remix just doesnt go with the band. The 2nd remix(Paul Barkers remix...

Advantages: Different feel to most current bands. Disadvantages: The raw sound might be off putting
...Is it industrial? Is it metal? Is it nu-metal? Static-X kind of sit in the middle, accepted by all three camps. It has the down-tuned nature of nu-metal, the synth work of industrial and the lyrical delivery of metal.
The album has a very raw sound, no over-production at all. There's no warning, no build-up, you're simply launched straight into "Push It" before being dragged along Wayne Static's Wisconsin Death Trip.
To be honest, it's very much typcial first album territory. Their second album, "Machine" has taken the harshness of WDT and placed it more into context with more work around the tracks to improve flow.
Overall, it's a great album. However, it's not an easy album to listen to. The music is constantly changing and works poorly as a CD to be listening to whilst working on something else....
