If you are looking for witty and clever lyrics then move on, because this isn't it. If you are looking for some quality hard hitting beats (mainly from The Neptunes, Sha Money and Jazze Pha) and a very different southern sound then this is the album.
Due to Slim Thug being so successful on the underground mixtape circuit the title Already Platinum highlights the fact that he thought no major label would be able to offer him a deal that could match the figures he was already making! Geffen records did and hooked him straight up with the productive prowess of The Neptunes with the end result being a very good debut album for the Houston rapper.
Track 1 - The Intro - This highlights his success prior to making this album. 3/5
Track 2 - Like A Boss - This was the first track I heard before I bought the album which really shows off his gritty southern slurr. It has a catchy beat and some good lyrics. 5/5
Track 3 - 3 Kings - This has more of an underground mixtape sound and features Bun B and T.I. who both hold their own. 4/5
Track 4 - Diamonds - The basic theme of this song is about having money and buying diamonds etc. The beat is alright but is certainly nothing special. 3/5
Track 5 - Boyz In Blue - Decent beat and a handful of guest Mc's from the Boss Hogg Outlaws. Nothing special yet again. 3/5
Track 6 - I Aint Heard Of That (Remix) - Another one of the main stand out tracks of the album. Great beat, catchy hook, decent lyrics with Pharrel and Bun B on the track.
Track 7 - Click Clack - This is also a great song as he brings some heat with the lyrics and another great beat from The Neptunes. Pusha also adds a good verse and is lyrically pretty tight. 5/5
Track 8 - Everybody Loves A Pimp - This is produces by Jazze Pha and also features him on the track. Its pretty catchy but thats about all there is to it. 4/5
Track 9 - Already Platinum - Pharrel comes on this with a decent verse and Slim Thug uses his unique voice to fantastic effect on a great beat. 5/5
Track 10 - Ashy To Classy - Another more catchy song than anything else where he talks about coming from the bottom to the top. 3/5
Track 11 - The Interview - Slim Thug brings heat with this track produced by Sha Money (very much a G-Unit beat) with some very aggressive verses. Probably my favourite track just for the fire in his voice. 5/5
Track 12 - Playa You Don't Know - Another decent track. Good beat and a catchy verse. 4/5
Track 13 - Miss Mary - This is for me the worst track. The whole concept is poor and the beat and lyrics do nothing for it. 2/5
Track 14 - Incredible Feeling - Another Jazze Pha beat with his featuring on the chorus, which is very catchy. Its alright but you would only consider it an album track and nothing more. 3/5
Track 15 - This Is My Life - This is also a weak track. Needs more work would probably be an appropriate description... 2/5
Track 16 - Dedicate - A slower beat by The Neptunes where Slim Thugga raps about losing a friend. 3/5
Overall this album is above average, although it could have been much better! Lyrically he is poor as he only really raps about being rich and the best, with occasional references to women and killing. The beats for the most apart very good and highlight the unique suthern slurr that Slim Thug possess. Its main selling points are its vast amounts of bass and a variety of catchy verses but a couple of tracks are really weak
